If a person has a certain medical condition that alters their judgement, then they have not victimized themselves by committing suicide. In fact, they were victimized by their sickness, and are not responsible for it although it may seem like it. You really have to be in a person's position to understand their situation.
Another thing is, at least in my religion-- God is most merciful. Therefore it is obvious that if He gave us life, He has also given us a full package of other things with it. He gave us a heart, brain, organs, etc. If one is bi polar, then the persons brain is unhealthy. How can God blame us for that? And if ones brain isn't functioning well, then only God knows why and how it feels. God is always watching those who need His protection, even if it doesn't seem like it. So I don't think people go to hell if their are not mentally stable. In fact, one who is not mentally stable is forgiven by God for everything because it's not that person's fault that he/she is that way.

I believe that God knows our hearts and for people with mental illness, it is very difficult to be understood and therefore the only solution sometimes seems to be suicide. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. In my belief God felt their pain and I choose to belive they will not go to hell but rather spend eternity in Heaven with no more pain. No one is perfect, only God is in a position to look down on anyone.

They go to heaven. They are not held responsible for their actions if they are not of their right mind. Anyone who commits suicide is not in his/her right mind at the time therefore they are not responsible for their actions. The Bible talks about this in the New Testament.

They most likely go to a crematorium or a graveyard - and no further.
