Soldiers are soldiers. They eat full meals whenever possible. The quality of the food is usually cafeteria quality. Not bad but not great. You can almost always eat your fill. Food provided to soldiers is not supposed to be good it's supposed to be fuel for the body. Good is a great thing in food if you can get it but not a priority for the supply system(cost/availability are). Most stories of soldiers going hungry involve poor planning by the individual (carrying extra ammo instead of food/water). Planes will air drop MRE's if the situation demands. Hungry soldiers are useless so why let them be hungry. Additionally, commanders are always trying to get good tasting food for the soldiers, it boosts morale and that is always a good thing.
Providing food IS a top priority for any army. The law of dimminishing returns is based on the army food supply system of Nepoleon. Patton - "An army marches on it's stomach"

They generally try to keep the soldiers as well fed as possible. Providing good food has never been a top priority, but it is never good to have your fighting men going hungry. So Whether the food is good or not you want to make sure your troops have plenty of it. Then, there are always times that resources get scarce and soldiers have to do without. But every army will avoid that if they can. Out of curiosity, why is this in the religion and spirituality section?

You have to make a statement for me to have a counter argument.
But yes soldiers are well fed. There are extenuating circumstances that can help create a lack of food, but these are rare with how well our countries(USA) military supply works. Some rare cases of a shortage of food are when supply trucks get ambushed. But usually they can do a supply drop of MRE's from a plane or helicopter if they have no other way to get them to the troops.

The food isn't always great, but there is plenty of it.
My Marine son in Iraq wrote me that they had a very good Thanksgiving meal, with Turkey, gravy, dressing, and mashed potatoes. They even had apple pie and pumpkin pie too.
But when they were there to oust Saddam, my son had to put his body armor around his legs to protect them from being quite as injured when a convoy was attacked. His wasn't hit. but the vehicle just in front of him was, and my son had to watch his best friend die. No proper armor.
My info is accurate because I have a son who has served in Iraq four times, and he tells me quite a bit.

In the US Army I was. Most others are until the situation of combat makes it impossible. Keeping the military happy is important to every country. So even the tyrants do.

The armed forces are well fed - it's the law - honestly. There are laws both American and international that govern the amount and quality of food our troops eat.

Unless the supply lines get interrupted, as they did briefly in the push to Baghdad, then they do get nutritional meals. I won't go so far as to say good, tasty ones. My brother sent me one of his MRE's and it was basically like a t.v. dinner.

no they are not- There are minimum nutritional requirements that 1/2 a vitamin pill would cover but they do not get what they really need-
They are expendable so why would the gov waste their money on that...?:(
