i was educated in the catholic school system, but remember little of st. augustine, the 1st doctor of the church, a brilliant theoligist. i have prayed for faith every day for about 4 years, the answer to date has been no. didn't st. augustine's mother pray for his conversion for 20 years, or at least a long time? didn't he say something to the effect of the human soul is restless until he fills the void with god. i know i am butchering this saying. anyone out there who can help me with this? if it did take 20 years for st. augustine to find his faith, maybe there is hope for me...

Rom 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from listening, and listening comes through the word of Christ.
Try reading for faith instead of just praying for it.
The other half of faith is in the exercise of it. Go about doing good and sharing truth.
"Faith without works is dead"
Grace and Peace to you.

There is hope for everyone. Read the gospels in the Bible. That will help you. I don't know anything about St. Augustine. But finding God shouldn't take 20 yrs. Read Acts 2:38-9 for the simple plan of salvation.

Why do you NEED religious faith? I believe that many people feel they do because they need to anchor their existance to something or someone. The only fact is that we ARE here. Why, what, or whom...we don't truly know.
Keep praying if you want to, but don't beat yourself up over it. The meaning of life is the meaning YOU give to it.

Faith is nothing but the irrational belief that your wishful thinking is reality. If you can accept that, have all the faith you like. If you can't accept that, I'd recommend doing real research and rational thinking to find the answers you seek.

hun. there is always hope! you don't have to keep praying for faith until you find it. it is right there if you are really looking for it. all you have to do is pray to God and tell him that you want him in your life. confess your sins and ask him to forgive you and accept him as the Lord and Savior of your life. There isn't any ritual you have to go through, you just need to have a heart that is willing to submit itself to Jesus and your prayer needs to be earnest. =]
if you want to know anything else, i'm more than willing to answer. =]]

Faith is the last thing you need: it is not just evil, it is the ultimate evil. Faith is the intentional rejection of the essence of one's humanity: the ability to apply logic to evidence to arrive at valid conclusions. From here on, have faith in nothing, and make your decisions based on the evidence.

Hon, as long as your breathing there is hope for you.
But the longer you wait, the less of you're life you will get to really enjoy.

I don't know the quote, but I do know there is hope.
You just have to turn to Jesus and yield you heart and life to Him. Invite Him to be your Lord and Savior, and ask Him to help where your faith is weak.
