I have a 45 day old pug and i got bit on my finger while holding him and giving him his puppy vitamins.. actually, i think its more of I scratched my finger on his teeth of something like that. some skin peeled and it bled a little. is it possible to get rabies from this scratch/bite? he's been seperated from his mother for about a week now and is now royal canine starter.

The pug has been separated early cause he already began to bite, biting her titties i guess. and they just run around the house and chase each other. it was the mother's first breeding. Now the mom is at our other house 15 minutes away from the house where the pup is being weaned and raised.

I washed the wound with betadine skin antiseptic and put some alcogel on it. im just worried. Ive seen those infomercials on youtube about rabies and its not a good picture. I had a tetanus toxoid shot like 8 months ago.

are there any signs i should look for?

Exactly where would this 6wk old dog have picked up rabies? If Mom was an inside dog, there was no place he could have picked it up. If Mom were a hunting dog it would be more possible.

Did the mother have rabies? Was the puppy in contact with any animals that did? If not, you're fine. If the mother had her rabies vaccinations, chances are you are fine.
If you still have some concern, speak with a doctor or seek a blanket rabies treatment (ow.) Although I wouldn't think anyone would bother weaning a puppy they thought was infected with a deadly disease.

Cheers

I wouldn't worry about rabies. Unless the mother dog has been outside in the wild with exposure to racoons and bats, then there is very little chance of contracting rabies. If anything, your bite could get infected, but if you wash it out and put on some antibacterial cream, you should be fine.

If he is your dog and at 45 days old, I doubt that he has been anywhere to get rabies. He has to be infected with the disease. If the mother is healthy it should not be a concern, Wash the cut off and use some antibiotic. If you haven't had a tetanus shot in 10 years, get one if you are concerned.
Not many pets are walking around rabid.

Why do people think rabies just happens. Your dog would have to be bitten by another animal to get it. In the cities of this country it is almost imposable for a dog to get rabies. Bats are the animal that carries it th most. Ground squirrels are the next. Rats the most comman pest in cities almost never carries it.

Only if the 45 day old puppy has rabies. Why has this puppy been separated from his mother this soon? Unless she is for some reason unable to care for her own puppies he needs to still be with her! At the very least he needs to be raised with his litter until he is at a minimum of 8 weeks. Why do you have this puppy?

Unless he has been exposed to rabies by his mom, the answer would be no. You should have cleaned the bite well with anti-bacterial soap and water. Little antibiotic ointment, and a band-aid is suggested for all wounds because of the new stap infection that has become a problem. It is time for his checkup, shots, and worming at the vet.

Does the pug have rabies...? How could you get rabies if the animal doesn't have the disease?

you should look up what rabies are in the first place.

The pup probably does not have rabies. But, he is 6 weeks old and needs to be in for his shots and worming anyway, so get him to the vet. When one has pups, one gets bit. It's no big deal.

Hi first has the mother had her shots and has the pug bin outside or is he an inside dog, If the dog has bin around any wild animals you should go see your doc and talk to him, If you keep the dog in the house then you should be OK But you should really talk to your doc about it( be safe )
