I have a daughter who absolutely loves Caillou on PBS Kids (she's 2). Before she started watching it she used to be very well-behaved for a 2 year old. I was surprised the first time she told me "no, I don't want to" just like Caillou does. Well, needless to say she's not allowed to watch it anymore. I know for a fact it's that show, she says things and does things just like that stupid little bald kid all the time. I swear, that little brat needs a slap...

Anyway, what do you think? Has Caillou corrupted your little angel too?

As a side note, yes, I am crazy.

I know it's a stage she's in, but she never used to whine when I'd ask her to do something. She'd say no, but do it anyway. Sometimes she'd say no and throw a fit, but eventually she'd give in, do it, and even say sorry. Not anymore, all she does is whine about how "I don't want to". And I do limit her t.v. time, and also (as I stated above) I no longer allow her to watch it. It's hard because her evening time is t.v. time, she watches Sesame Street at 6, Barney at 7:00 and it used to be Caillou at 7:30 then a bath at 8, but not anymore.

And aren't his parents so wimpy though? I can't stand it, I want to slap them too.

My daughter also likes Super Why, and that I let her watch till the cows come home. Barney isn't that bad, but for my own sanity I limit that. Teletubbies keep her completely entranced, so I use that when I need some 'mommy time'.

We banned Caillou when my kids were little too, but mostly because the show made me soooooo angry! Caillou himself wasn't the problem, it was his parents. They let that little brat get away with murder! I'm not sure if the show ever gave my kids any ideas, but I just couldn't stand to sit there and watch parents (cartoon or otherwise) be so spineless with their children.

Evil? No.
Ill-behaved or bratty? Yes.
I let my 3.5 year old son watch it but I discuss the lesson with him that they are trying to teach. At this age children learn more from other people's behavior than from the message this show is trying to send. So at 3.5 my son sees Caillou's behavior and thinks it is normal but doesn't get the lesson - that is where I need to do my job and make sure he understands that this behavior is unacceptable and there is a consequence.
Yes, Caillou's parents are wimps but I did see his father get mad at him once - I was thrilled.

Super Why and Word World are awesome - my son loves them and so do I.

I find Super Why to be much more nerve-wracking than Caillou. The only thing my daughter watches is Sesame Street and The Wiggles (because she loves to dance). Two year olds are notorious for being stubborn and obstinate. I highly doubt Caillou is the root of all evil, or the root of your problems, for that matter. It's a stage you will have to deal with. At that age, they push the limits to find where they stand in the world and discover their boundaries. You are a parent, suck it up.

i have a friend that has a daughter that is 4 and she let her watch it for a while until she saw what a whiner caillou was. she said that she stopped letting her watch it b/c she didn't want her to be that way.now, every now and then when ragon whines about something, robin says, do you know who you're acting like? then ragon says caillou.all sad b/c she knows from that, that she is being bad,and she needs to stop.teach ur child that caillou is not a good little boy and maybe you could use that question that she will know the answer to, and feel bad 4 it.

I, too, hate the message Caillou gives. He's a little whiny, bratty kid. Good luck!

I don't have kids but I'm my nephews' nanny and I f#$@ing HATE Caillou!! I never let my littlest nephew watch it because Caillou is a whining little candyass & someone needs to b#$@h-slap him. You have done well because this is an important public service announcement.

weither she watches Cailou or not she would have still told you "no" its the stage she is in...rather than blaming a television show why don't you sit down with her and explain that its tv and a cartoon..its not real life....if it is bothering you that bad why don't you limit her tv time and not let her watch the show...at two i really don't think they need to be watching tv anyways...there are plenty of things at that age to keep them busy if you need a little break or can't entertain them...i ran a daycare 24/7 and usually had five-seven kids at a time...not once did i turn on the television so they would be entertained so i could get something done...it was just as effective as giving them a coloring book and some crayons...

They are cleverly disguised insects. They huddle in the dark until they metamrph into their final form, a stack of bricks, when they escape out of the chimney. After that you won't be able to find a clothes hanger at all, but you'll have paperclips all over the house.

I HATE Caillou! I think his parents are wimpy and he is a spoiled brat. Fortunately my son didn't imitate him, but I couldn't stand it when he watched that show. Now he's almost 7 and he's too old for Caillou...thank God.

My son is not allowed to watch that show...actually I am not fond of PBS programming in general (Super Why is the only thing we watch). Calliou is such a whiny brat!

And don't even get me started on the evils of Barney and the Teletubbies, lol!!
