calling family in india?

last october, my cousin called me and started complaining i stopped calling and suggested i call once in a while to catch up..well, today i called my aunt in india..when i asked my mom to call her brother in delhi, she said no because they never call us..does my mom have a point in why she doesnt want to call..i was told that just because someone doesnt cal us, doesnt mean they dont care about us..in my counseling class, my teacher told me that if i have family living in a foreign country and they dont always call us, and we do all the writing and calling, that is oaky because we need to realize that sometimes people cant afford to call foreign countries..what should i do..i want to prevent complaints from my cousin that i stopped calling and writing..how do i do that,,my aunt always calls us..is there a way i can make my mom realize that she should call her brother in delhi

Your mom is right in not calling her brother as he has not been calling to know the well being or otherwise of her sister.Maintaining relationship is always reciprocal.The cost of calling also has a role..It is always best to let elders decide whom to call or omit.
Instead of complaining to you,your cousin can call you more frequently.What is prohibiting him to initiate the call ? Whether it is the phone bill or his ego ?

Your mommy is wrong....IF you are in the USA it is cheaper for her to call India.
It is very costly for other countries to call the USA.
Just tell her about the phone cal rates.
Her money is worth more than India $$

I hope she will call her bro. FAMILY is important and will cause regrets in the future should something happen to her brother.
IT is BEST to call him and tell her to set a TIMER and tell him...I can only talk 10 minutes or 20 etc...
I call my in laws in China and this is HOW I do it. I set my kitchen timer for 30 minutes and when I goes off I hang up. They know I do this and have no problems with how I do it.
