damn, I am glad you didn't marry that guy too! I hate hearing about people who use someone else, break thier hearts and then leave them!!!
There are plenty of good men still out there though, I promise you!

Maybe you could start by reading what you wrote? You give and give until you are blue in the face, and these guys take and take and take... and you wonder why you felt they were interested in THEMSELVES? It's because they ARE only interested in themselves, and whatever they can gain.
Do not give a man money. If he can't afford to take you out, he's not good enough! There is nothing wrong with treating a man once in a blue moon, or cooking him a meal ONCE IN A WHILE, but not often!!!
Don't buy a man things.. Do not let him borrow your credit card or put anything on it at all.... if he can't afford to buy his own stuff, then you don't need him!!!
If a man is a drinker, run the opposite direction.
if a man puts you down or says anything mean to you at all, break it off.. do not keep seeing him... If he treats his family or mom like crap... well, eventually it will be your turn... you don't want a man like that.
If a man spends most of his free time in front of the TV or on the computer and you don't, then don't go out with him... i don't know what people get out of living in front of a dumb box
Do not let a man live with you if you have known him less than 1-1/2 years... you can't get to know someone very well in a couple months... and some men are GOOD ACTORS! And if a man moves in with you, make sure you have discussed finances in advance.
I am single, and probably staying that way. I've met more liars than i care to think about... drinkners? ugh.... people with a hidden agenda, and great expectations of me...
I'm taking care of myself right now, and if i find someone who has the ability to treat me as they wish to be treated, i might consider him...
take care of YOU>

I would never want one who is more interested in me than in himself. I want one who is genuinely concerned about my well being and doing what he can to make me feel special. Which my husband does. Guess how I met him- I quit looking. I completely gave up on men and poof- there he was!
If the weight thing is bothering you, join a gym and get back into shape. You would be surprise at how much more confident you feel (even if you don't lose a pound!). And confidence will draw a man in more than anything else (only the superficial ones are concerned about other things, and you aren't looking for them anyways!
I am going to avoid comments about how your last relationship went because 1) I don't know all the details 2)they were your choices to make and 3)they are in the past. Learn from them and move forward.
Best advice I can give is to just get out there and meet new people. I was out for a friend's b-day and didn't want to go where we did because I hated going there. For some reason I love that place now! Have your own life and love yourself for who you are- and you will find someone who does because you will not settle for less!

i do no longer think of it quite is an argument of proper or incorrect. A 24 year previous lady is grown and arranged to make her very own judgements. i think of it quite is greater an argument of compatibility, purely like a relationship with people of an identical age. besides the undeniable fact that, with a 24 year age hollow, there is generational hollow themes, to no longer point out the reality that a 24 year previous is purely beginning up her person existence jointly as the 40 8 year previous has already lived an entire existence. additionally, i might heavily question the 40 8 year previous guy's motivation for wanting a romantic relationship with somebody youthful sufficient to be his daughter.

i agree u are attractive... u attracted the wrong guy. Stop concentrating on ur weight and work on ur life instead. What were u thinking all these times.
Men tend to vary. They come in many avatars!!! the good ones are not necessarily hard to find, its more often u find the good ones unattractive ( law of attractive ). So spend a little time with someone who shows u time and love, rather than muscles and sex

Congrats on ditching the loser. Dust yourself off and get out into the world. Take this experience as a learning tool of what you really want out of a man. If a man comments about your weight run. Enjoy this time to get back into the world. I know the nice guys are out there. You got to go and find them.

Thank God you didn't is right. Man, that guy must have really done a number on your self-esteem. I have been there. With emotionally abusive men, that is.
I think the best way to meet someone is to do the things we love to do. Hobbies, passions... whatever it is you love to do, do it. Those are the situations that put us with like- minded people. We meet people who share our beliefs and thought processes in places we enjoy being, doing things we love to do. Makes sense to me anyway. Thats how I met my boyfriend ;0)

Wow, I can tell you aren't over what happened to you those 8 years ago. I really think that you should go talk to a counselor/psychiatrist about your past so you can move on! Once you truly move on you will be able to focus on finding a quality guy to share your life with!
