There are various work visas available for foreign athletes, just as there are work visas available for computer programers and other positions. In baseball, most minor league players are petitioned under H2b, for temporary or seasonal employment. Major league players mostly come in on H1b petitions, with the exception of the truely exceptional players who can come in under O visas. There are various work related petitions for boxers as well, but since foreign boxers only come in for single matches, they usually get different types of visas. We bring in a fair number of foreign musicians, singers and other entertainers as well. But the numbers of people who come in on all these visas is quite small compared to the numbers who come in on family related petitions. The US takes in larger numbers of immigrants than any other country in the world, so you can hardly say that foreign family members cannot. People in certain categories do have to wait for long periods, but that's because there are so many people worldwide who want to come here. And in some categories like spouses, minor children and parents of American citizens, there are no limitations whatever on how many can come in during a given year.

How are athletes treated in such a better way than regular humans? So are you saying athletes are superhuman or less than human, if they aren't EXACTLY regular human?
Look at athlete as a profession, a job. If someone is good at what he is doing and there is a company (or team) who wants to sponsor him, then it is basically a special form of skilled worker immigration, which is an entirely different line than family based immigration.
Why is it hard for foreign family members to receive visa? It's not, they can still get tourist visa and the standard is the same. As to Green Card or permanent visa, there is a line for everything and the line is unfortunately long for family based immigration. Within the broad umbrella, still there are huge disparities. For example, it is much easier and faster to sponsor your spouse than your sister.

The situation IS different.
Those athletes are here for a specified reason and their visas are limited. They are more like tourists, but they also function as DIPLOMATIC representatives. That is, to some extent, a political function.
They are not normally here to STAY and take jobs, establish residence, and bring their families and relatives. When finished, they are expected to go back home and hopefully they will have learned something about America while they were here.

No they aren't but they do have some people who will vouch for them as well as help them gain the information necessary to get these visas. It has nothing to do with historical evidence basically it has come down to overseas that have kids who play our sports well and look up to our athletes these teams won't the best possible team mates therefore they are willing to get work visas and help them achieve actually visas.

There's never an issue if family members can be financially supported by their sponsoring family members or their employers. Athletes have proven and guaranteed employment and can afford to support their family members without additional work permits.

it incredibly is definitely exceptionally hassle-free for people to get visas in the event that they have a prior pastime coated up. i think of this is the case for athletes. they have a job waiting for them. it incredibly is like that for many countries.
