Man created god because of his fear of the unknown and also to have someone to thank for all the neat stuff he was given. Man was given water to drink and animals to feed and clothe him, pretty trees to cut down and make fire with, etc. He believed that the planet was made for him 'cause it was so perfectly suited to his needs, and who but another man (a super man, if you will) could build something so awesome? Obviously some really cool old guy with wicked powers created everything just for us! Man created god so he knew who to send the thank you card too.

Lower primates created man, and primitive men created god. Now that we're no longer primitive, it's important to face these facts, so that we can continue to grow and expand our knowledge.
