This is more to Pooky. I shoot with DSLR Pro to a laptop, as you were saying. You can shoot as much as you want (I shoot at large fine, not raw with studio lights) you can save to laptop only, lap top and card or card only.

You would have to install the programs that came with your camera. Then you have to connect the computer to the camera via a USB cable.

The programs you will first need is the USB WIA Driver version 6 for Vista (VU500en.exe)-this lets the computer "talk" to the camera.

Then you'd install the actual program, and I think it's the Digital Photo Professional version 3.2 (dpp320_en.exe) for Vista.

I have Canon 5D, and I tried it once. It really worked, and one thing I never tested was how many photos I was able to take until the "buffer" is filled up. (5D can take up to 19 RAW files until the buffer is filled.) I don't know if (my) camera can snap away without this limitation. (I don't have the software installed on my desktop that I am using to write this message so I cant' test it. Also, I use a card reader to import my photos--so I don't really connect my camera to the computer anyway).

With your camera, the buffer for RAW file is, I think, 5 photos. I don't really know if it will run into this. (This means it clicks five times and you will have to wait until the buffer is cleared (but not totally emptied).

You will still need a memory card (Compact flash) in your camera, by the way. It didn't matter what size--it just needs to be there.

When you take photos this way (it's called tethered mode)--it drains the batteries very quickly. I have no idea why it uses so much juice.

Not sure if I am that helpful.

p.s. It doesn't matter what graphic program you have. You set the option where you want the photos to be uploaded to (i.e. a folder), and there they go. Make sure it's a USB port version 2 though, not 1.1.

p.s.s. There is no wireless thigie for your camera. It's available for other models, but not for that one, at least from canon anyway.
