Look I'm in my mid twenties. The love of my life is two states away.
I have to see him. It has been 3 months. Long story how I got out here. I have no friends or family here. My family lives half way across the country. I am dying to see my soulmate. He is dying to see me. I do not have a vehicle right now, because it is states away at my dads and I am letting him use it for work, since he is real hard up right now.

My question: How with no vehicle, only a couple hundred bucks. Do I get there?
I can't take the bus or train, because there is no way that I will leave my dog behind.
I can wait no longer, I have to see my love.

What would you do? If I wait one more month,I will have my truck back and my license back and can drive up. However, it has already been nearly 4 months. I can wait no longer.

Should I hitchhike? How safe during the holidays is that-for a woman to do?

Thanks.

Nope, sorry. These days a woman really can't safely hitchhike - even with a dog.

Hitchhiking is NEVER safe! What is keeping your man from going to see you? That seems like the perfect answer to this question. Or, you could just wait until you have your truck back. It isn't safe to hitchhike, and if you won't leave your dog behind, then you either get your guy to come see you or you wait a month to get your truck back.

Goodness! Are you living on your own? Surely a woman in her mid twenties would know the risks of hitchhiking! I sure do! It's bad enough for a woman to be walking on her own in some places, nevermind hitchhiking! Why would someone want to go out of their way to pick you up unless there was another reason for it? DON'T do it. You could end up being raped, kidnapped or worse...murdered. How else could you get there? Hmm...What about the 'love of your life?' Why can't he come to see you? I'm sure he has friends or family that could drive him to see you.

You will be taking a tremendous risk by hitchhiking all that way. It's freezing, below freezing. How can you expect a dog to endure that? How many people will be willing to pick you up with a DOG? Stop being selfish and impetuous and simply wait another month. You are behaving like a lovesick teen. Do what's best for your poor dog and yourself and wait for your truck. Besides, hitchhiking is illegal.

Hitchhiking is not safe for anyone. You have no control over what type weirdo offers you a ride, you have no control over the schedule.

Leave the pet with a friend, go Greyhound. Or call the bus line and see if the pooch can travel in a carrier.

Oh, please do not do this! Why can he not come see you? I would hate for anything to happen to you .. and more than likely it will. There are articles in the paper every single day about people getting killed. I admire your tenacity. Your determination to see your boyfriend is amazing ... he should be proud and amazed that you are willing to go to such lengths .. but think sensibly. If you have to see him so badly, pay a friend to take you. Ask a co-worker. Do not walk, do not hitchhike to put yourself in harm's way. Nothing is worth risking your life like that.

no i think you should wait the extra month, since everything will be available to you then. I went 6 months without the love of my life because of military. And there are people out there who are going 1-2 years without their love of their life, and they have kids! So yours is only minimal. You can deal the extra month. The dangers of hitchhiking arent worth it in this case. I totally understand how you want to see him really bad, but for your safety please wait.

It's never safe for a man or a woman to hitch hike!!! Don't be stupid...wait a month. No one has ever died from missing someone...you have phones, computer, etc to stay in touch. Get a cam and mic so you can talk to and see him. If this guy truly cares for you he will discourage you from risking your life to come for a visit. WAIT UNTIL YOU CAN DRIVE THERE

Do not hitchhike. It's not worth it. Take a bus or train, and find someone to keep your dog for a few days.

Hitch hiking is only safe for women who like to get raped or murdered. Find another way. Have you ever seen a movie in which the hitch hiking woman wasn't raped or murdered? Be safe. Between your "soul mate" and you, you could probably buy a bus ticket.
