Sunrise is a brand of the good value Concha y Toro winery in Chile.

Carmenere is a grape variety so similar to Merlot that for many years until recently it was assumed to be Merlot, but I think Carmenere is richer and more lush, and it made the reputation of Chile 'Merlots' :)

Cook with it? Yes, no problem and it will be good to drink. It is by no means an expensive wine, around $6-$10 depending on the outlet.

good evening.

the carmenere grape is one of the good ones - especially if it is from the Central valley in chile.

better to drink than to use in cooking.

Emerill says "don't cook with anything you wouldn't drink".
So, if you'd drink it...I don't see why not. Go for it.

One for the pot, 2 for me :D
