Complete silence is best... personally I prefer lying on my back because then my lower back doesn't start to hurt from sitting cross-legged. An eye pillow is nice too. If your mind begins to wonder, try focusing on your breathing or hearing/feeling your heart beat.

It's really one of those things that people have to find their own way of doing. I meditate in the dark with only a single candle burning. Silence is also a good thing but something that I rarely get.

You can meditate on what you like, when you like, for as long as you like. But if you wish to meditate on the truth then meditation consists of thinking about God and his word in the Bible (Psalms 63:6; 77:12; 119:27,48,78,148; 143:5; 145:5).

If you trully want to meditate in the most beneficial way then my advice is to ponder over things think things through and about how they apply to you, thepractice that is called meditation of emptying your mind is not real meditation and it can do more harm than good.

Being all by yourself, listening to some soothing music down low, and praying to our creator and savior. That's what helps me. With your eyes closed. Wow, now I am getting in the mood to meditate...............LOL
