Well, to start with, there are oily compounds in food that do not digest perfectly. In beans, they are oligosaccharides (oily sugars). In meat and other non-vegetable products, it might be animal fat.
Chemically, what happens is that some people cannot completely digest the oily compounds so they partially digest them. This partial digestion leads to production of methane and other natural gases that result from food processing.
As far as problems go, though... you eat, you bloat, you fart, you feel better. What problem?
There are a few things you can do. If you can identify the worst culprits and it really bothers you, don't eat those foods. Or you can try an over-the-counter product called Beano, which you use just before eating.
Believe it or not, a peppermint candy also helps. Something in peppermint alters the surface tension of the gas bubbles and makes them smaller. You still fart but now they sneak out quietly instead of announcing themselves to the world with a sound that resembles cousin Joey's first lesson on the tuba.
As to why some folks have it worse than others? It might be hereditary. I know it runs in my family. My poor, dear, suffering wife swears that I can get gas simply by breathing. So I asked her if she wanted me to stop breathing. She said, "Don't give me such tough decisions, please..." At that point, I shut up.

It's probably from the foods you eat. Beans naturally produce a chemical the body can't break down, so in turn we fart to expell it. Try some Bean-O or go to the healt food store and ask what are some natural ways for getting rid of gas without actually farting.

gas is produced usually in intestines by the bacteria living there which dissolves the carbohydrates. It is called flatulence.
Usually fruits and vegetables do this by their fermentation in the digestive system. For sure beans and peas. And milk.
I had this problem, I went to doctor and I treated this with pills. I discovered that I have h.pylori bacteria in stomach and some hominis bacteria in intestine. I killed them both. I feel better now but not entirely.
I know what you mean, I try to to retain gass and feel pain in stomach.

Try Gas-X or Beano.. It can be found in many drugstores.. The food that you are eating is probably affecting your stomach.. when your in front of your boyfriend just excuse yourself to the bathroom and you can relieve yourself in there.. i know this sounds a little gross but when you hold it in the pain is constantly there getting worse and worse but if you go to the bathroom and relieve yourself it wont be such a constant problem for you.. hope i helped!

Protein, like beans have a fiber that ferments in the bowels and causes gas, but it is a good thing. Try to take in fiber that is insoluable and soluable, nuts, fruits and vegetables have both fibers. Take Beano for gas. Don't worry, everyone has gas part of being human. Ask your boyfiend, if he's human, he's got gas. laugh a little and pass on. ;-)

Swallowing air is one of the causes. Don't smoke, don't suck thorough a straw, don't suck on candies, don't chew gum ... some foods is another cause. You can research which food are most likely to cause gas. Also, there is a product called beano that is suppose to help with the foods if you take it just before the first bite of food.

gas is a result of your body breaking down the foods that you eat...digestion. if your stomach hurts from not passing gas, then excuse yourself to the bathroom and fart. you can get yourself into a lot of trouble if you don't realease the gas your body has made. gas is made by your body naturally...find out what food makes you gassy and don't eat it. simple as that. p.s. if you can't fart in front of your boyfriend, maybe you should think about getting a new one.

If you have a high fiber diet (sounds like you do), then you have this issue. You need to modify our diet by figuring which of these gives you the gas and then cutting back and substituting other foods.
If you are uncomfortable "letting loose" in front of others, excuse yourself and go to the bathroom.

you have a gastric problem
it may seem rude ut when was the last time you went to the bathroom
gas that has built up is a result of old poop and i recommend a laxative or colon cleanser
if not taken care of can lead to colon cancer
try using more water
fresh fruits
vegetables
yogurt
