You can actually go to several churches and try to find one that closely resembles the Bible if you want to remain Christian. I realize that the Catholic religion teaches there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church but that is not true according to the Bible.

I was born into the Lutheran religion and it is similar to the Catholic religion. I studied the Bible and was not satisfied that the Church I belonged to followed the Bible. I started searching. I went through various churches until I have narrowed my search down to two. Either messianic Jew or Seventh Day adventist. I believe these two religions to be as close to the Bible as I have found.

However, you will be able to make your own search. I think you might be happy with one of the churches I mentioned but you have to come to that conclusion for yourself. Good luck on your quest! You are a rare breed.... most catholics that leave the church feel that they are doomed anyway, so why even bother looking for God.

I know exactly where you're coming from I was born into the Catholic religion, my advice : look into the Bible it has the answers there. The Bible fills all our needs for wise direction. True, many are overwhelmed when they first look through the Bible. It is a big book, and some portions of it are not easy to understand. But if you were given a legal document outlining what you had to do in order to receive a valuable inheritance, would you not take the time to study it carefully? If you found certain parts of the document hard to understand, likely you would get the help of someone experienced in such matters. Why not approach the Bible with a similar attitude?(Acts17:11) More is at stake than a material inheritance.

You should feel at peace with God within you. Church is unimportant to the extent of Christian religion. Ill help w/ what i know. Protestant is usually a good sermon and some traditional and new age music. Baptist is usually a very up to date sermon infused w/ community and current events which allows a more reverant message. Lots of enthusiastic singing about God. Roman Catholic is like a committee meeting

I was raised Catholic myself and ended up going to the Episcopalian church. The "service" is similar but everything else is different -- non-judgmental and there aren't so many rules. It's hard to explain. They tend to be more open minded. The priests are allowed to marry. You may want to try that -- if used to the Catholic way......if you end up at a flamboyant church, you may feel uncomfortable.

You might try the Episcopal church...they don't follow the practice of praying to saints, or confessing to the priest, nor do they believe in the pope...
However, the formal rituals and prayers would be familiar to you.
Or, even less formal, would be the Methodist church. I really like Methodist.
I'd stay away from Pentecostal type denominations, though.
(Just a bit of advice)...

Read up on various religions and denominations. Attend services and talk with local priest-types of various ones around you and explain that you are curious and seeking for a religion that is compatible with you.

Why do you need to be part of a religion? Why not just worship God in your own why? That's what I do, I refuse to follow any religion, and instead keep God in my heart and home.

You don't need to have faith in anything to get along in life! You shouldn't search for a new religion because you need to have faith in something. You need to find yourself before you do that.
