I am looking to throw a huge event and wanted one of the local beer distributors to sponsor it. who would i need to speak with and how much usually does big Beer sponsors give?

It is easier to get companies to donate product rather than money - so if you are specifically looking at beer distributors, then you would be asking for beer. Just call them and ask who to talk to - it may be different at each company. You will get a better response if you promise them prominent signage at the event "Beer thanks to XXX company" and aslso a free ad in any printed journal or program. Let them know if the people attending are a good match for their product and would be good publicity for them.
