Homeland Security reports that 4,980,000 illegal aliens from countries other than Mexico were living in the US during 2006. That is a big proportion. Also, they report that although undocumented Mexicans continue to dominate, between 2000-2006, the greatest percentage increases were illegals from India (125%), Brazil (110%) and Honduras (75%).

I am not saying that illegal immigration is acceptable. I am talking about media coverage.
For anyone who thinks the numbers are 50 million, 20 million or whatever, here are the government estimates:

Um, are we really worrying about terrorists from Brazil or Honduras? That would be new to me...
The media is all about ratings. That is why they tell you things like, "This common household item may be killing you right now------ Tune in at 10 for more......"
If they can get you startled, shocked, or afraid, you watch, they get the ratings... They get more advertising $, and, you get nightmares. LOL.

No and those facts are incorrect. Mexico enforces their southern border and not that many get through all the way
into the US. The percentage increases of the others seem high but if you look at the actual numbers they are small compared to the Mexicans.

I think the media is only heightening our awareness. I agree that there are more than just illegals from mexico and we need to realize that an illegal is an illegal but, the US border patrol classifies illegals in two ways, one of those ways is called OTM, meaning "other than mexican". That is a pretty good indication where the majority is coming from.

No. The media has made us aware of the facts. Is it not factual when we see, through the media, the thousands who are marching through the streets, waving the Mexican flag? Or when papers write about the doings of La Raza? Or when hosptials are reported having to close down, because of half that come in are illegals who do not pay?
Facts. Although I am aware of it everyday without the media. CA. Need I say more?

mainly because they all come from the border with mexico...which is the problem.
the racist component though is exactly what you pointed out. Many of the illegals are coming from other central and southern american countries...but because they all look the same and speak roughly the same language...they are lumped into the same mix.
the media is trying to avoid this by focusing on the border as a issue...but, there are 10 Million illegals in the country, with the majority coming from Mexico.

Illegal is illegal whether you are from Mexico or India.
It seems a disproportionate per centage of inmates in Federal prisons are from Mexico. They come here and commit MORE CRIMES.
Check out ALL the facts and the unusually high number of ILLEGALS from Mexico are a BIG problem.

I'm not being a bigot or a racist, and I love good hearted Mexicans but they should immigrate here legally. That said there should be sniper towers set up by borders and make that clear on the other side of the fence

The media has had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to even report the problem at all. Your numbers are way low.....it's almost certainly over 20 MILLION illegals.
I've spent my entire 56 years in Los Angeles and Northern Arizona, with most of my family living in Southern Arizona....and I can tell you, having done one of those "jobs Americans won't do", (groom at Santa Anita), the work would get done if they all left tomorrow. They cost us TRILLIONS in welfare, health care, education, tax loss, crime, incarceration costs, illegal drug problems....... the list goes on. They have skillfully imported poverty from their country to ours, and the amount of cash shipped out of the U.S. through Western Union alone could fund a space program.
I'm in favor of LEGAL immigration.

Not nearly as much as the Mexican hate organizations like la raza, mecha, fist and the morons that preach aztlan rhetoric. These groups actively preach violence and are trying to move this nation into an internal conflict. Their ignorance, while pitiable, is overshadowed by their extremist attitudes. Groups like mecha and the brown berets are easily as militant and dangerous as klan and skinhead groups.

Yes, they are, but that's a good thing. I didn't know how wide-spread this problem was until the media told me. But we should be anxious about it. This problem invades every community in the United States and we all need to be aware of its impact on us and our families.
