I think that a lot of priests retreat into alcohol because they are denied not only the comfort of a wife to share their life with, but also because they are charged with the issue of helping other people with the most basic personal issues and suffering. If you are a caring and compassonate person and you live your life to serve others , it is pretty impossible to walk away at the end of the day and feel like you have given enough of yourself and done enough to change anything. Most of us expect a priest to be an example of piety and a shining example of goodness. They are just people , like the rest of us. Besides, you have a pretty demanding boss

MOST is a giant word. How do you know that most Priests are alcoholic? I am a San Francisco Giants fan from 1958 to the present and they have never had an alcoholic on their team in that time. I can also prove it to you!

Hmmmm...what is the source of your data? A priest of a Parrish is provided a home, transportation and funds to live. There is no need for them to hide their alcohol. I agree, that a lot of them drink excessively, but accusing them of being alcoholics needs to be supported by some evidence.

First of all way to be RUDE! sencond many Christian and catholic preists Drink Because Of the things they see. How would you like it if you had to walk around and look at demons walking the earth every day. Wouldnt it make u want a drink From what I know It makes most of it seem normal or "not there". Can we blame him for getting addicted to the blood of Christ? The Catholic "theory" of transubstantiation states that wine physically changes into the blood of Christ. A simple blood test from the Red Cross could prove this theory, but I don't know if anyone has performed it yet. The FDA should put a label on Jesus, letting folks know that consuming His blood can restrict the ability to drive a car and operate heavy machinery. In addition, pregnant women consuming His blood put their unborn child at risk for small head circumference, poor problem-solving skills, stubborness, signficantly reduced cognitive skills, and a lack of imagination and curiosity.
