okay...well lets start with..alcoholics run in my family. my grandma was and she was depressed because she drank and drank because she was depressed. my dad cant go to sleep without having at least 12 beer. i love drinking a little too much...im 17 and im in grade 12. i go out every weekend to partys and get drunker then all my friends. for example..if they get drunk on friday they wont drink on saturday but im always up for it. i drink before i go out (when im alone) i drink whatever i have kicking around the house before my friends pick me up..so i can be drunk before. i just love everything about it....and i cant just slow down..ill make my drinks really strong and ill drink them really fast. when im sad the only thing i feel like doing is drinking...(i also drink on school nights when the oppertunity comes up)...do i have a problem?

i think you know you do have a problem.
you sound like you are going to end up being an alcoholic which is not where you want to go.
i became that way and lost a lot of people and things in my life.
you see what you are doing, now the quesiton should be what are you going to do to change???

You are WELL on your way to being like your grandmother and dad ,probably worse.
Yur best bet is to stop drinking and no more parties, start going to church and get with some OTHER friends, otherwise youll be using alcohol as an escape instead of learning to cope with reality.
GOD is all the escape you need, HE loves AND cares for you and will see you through ANYTHING you are going through hon.You will have friends you can count on who wont rape you when you pass out drunk at a party either.
Try the United Pentecostal church, theyre great and they have a program for alcoholics and drug abusers and lots of FUN things for youth!

If you have to ask us, chances are you have a problem. Afterall, you know the symptoms and you appear to like to drink alot.
What you may not know is that you can prevent becoming your family. Stop now, before it gets worse. Seek professional assistance or do it cold. But do it before the addiction takes over you.
The signs are there. Just google alcoholism.
The question isn't if you are showing signs it is are you going to do anything about it?

Honestly - you are drinking way too much for a 17 year-old to not call it a problem. Especially if has been in the family.
Make a decision - because there is an ugly road ahead if you don't.
Get it controlled, or stop - or get help. You will save yourself some hell. Guaranteed.

While I can't tell you if YOU have a problem, I will say this:
No "normal" drinker questions themselves about this.
If you feel that you may be drinking too much, then you probably are. You can always go to an open AA meeting. Look up the AA establishment near you, and give them a call.

I'd say you definitely have a problem.
1) family history
2) you binge on the weekends
3) you drink during the week at any opportunity
4) you Can't stop
5) In addition, you're underage and breaking the law in order to drink.
Puzzle Box gave a pretty darn good answer too.

Not signs of alcoholism, this is signs of depression. You don't sound like you know how to have fun so you drink in hopes that it will help you learn how to have fun.
