In any state whose sales tax is over 7%, should we lower the sales tax? To 6%-5%? If you do or not think so, explain your reasons.

Sales taxes are a regressive tax that disproportionally affects the poor. The middle class and wealthy pay much less sales tax as a percentage of total income than the poor do.

I would much rather see it abolished entirely in favor of a graduated income tax which is progressive and levies the tax based upon the taxpayer's ability to pay. (And yes, that means that I'd probably pay a bit more tax in the long run but since I can swing that, I'll grudgingly go along with it.)

All states should abolish the sales tax altogether, as it has been abused to no end.
Ohio enacted the sales tax as a temporary measure in the early thirties, and ever since it has done nothing but go up, and now it even includes much in the line of food, and all labor.
In most states, the sales tax money is not specified for any particular purpose, and goes into a general fund, to be spent in any method or on any item desired, with no oversight and usually no control.
