It was on the evening news tonight. Instead of stopping off in the US illegals are heading north for the free housing, food, schools and health care. Plus they are welcome there. I say lets buy the ones that have stopped off here a one way ticket to Canada.

All these free benefits are for only one year.

I am just repeating what I heard on the news. They interviewed a family of illegals living in Canada and they said they loved it there, but the free benefits would end in a year. I wonder what they will do when the benefits end?

Are you watching Fox News, by chance?

Edit: There was a news story about illegal Mexicans coming north to Canada and applying for refugee status: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070928/windsor_refugees_070928/20070928?hub=TopStories

While their refugee claims are pending, they can apply for government assistance. It doesn't mean that they will be allowed to stay in the end. They could still be deported.

Canada is more utopian in general. Fine if they want to give them benefit, but good thing it ends in one year. What will they do then? How about living life legally like everyone else and stop cheating the system? While they maybe able to do it legally. That doesn't make it morally right.

LOL- that may not be accurate.... the Americans that took off to Canada during the Vietnam War weren't exactly greeted at the time with open arms by Canada's Government at first until the pressure was on

Canad has backed out of (or cancelled) the safe third country agreement - the one that says that those refugees who land in USA first (and therefore were required to apply for asylum in USA - and most of them were denied) will now be allowed to travel to Canada and apply for asylum there. They must still show proof of persecution. Processing still takes years and not everyone is approved.

All of this you heard is true. Join the club.
Everything is free. Canada will soon be sick of
of all the mess just like we are here in the USA.

I sincerely doubt that Canada will be willing to take on a bunch of uneducated, unskilled people. But let them deport them, too. At least we won't have to pay for all of the deportations! I really wouldn't wish that on the people of Canada either, the illegals just destroy everything everywhere they go!

Sounds like we need a subway from Mexico to Canada with no stops in the US.
