I applied for a job both at a restaurant and then a retail clothing store on the same day. I was scheduled for a "group interview" at the retail store for Sunday, but received a call for the higher paying restaurant position Saturday. Should I, out of courtesy attend this interview at the retail store and tell them I was hired for a different job? If so, how would I go about telling them this?

No, do not go to the other interviews, but DO call and let them know you have hired on with someone else. You could even stop by their store and let them know in person you have been hired elsewhere. Above all... thank them for being considered for the position! They will remember your courtesy and if in the future you apply with them it will go a long way.

The courtesy thing to do would be to call and be honest tell them you have accepted another position, and thank them for considering you for the position and cancel the interview. You don't want to waste their time and you want to keep a favorable impression with them, what if you hate the other job..... you don't want to leave anyone with a bad impression, you never know when you might want to change jobs and the person hiring could be one and the same as the person you are going to be turning down today... it is a small world..

A courtesy would be to call the job interviewing and tell them you've accepted another position. Thank them, and be off. Have fun in your new job; good luck!

I would call the person you are supposed to interview with and politely tell them that you have accepted another position. Tell them thank you for the opportunity. They will understand. If for some reason the position you accepted does not work out and you would like to re-apply at this previous company, the polite phone call will stick out in their mind and they may consider giving you another shot.

Call and say you accepted another position.

If you were going for a group interview, one less cow in the herd won't be a big deal to them.

Don't even bother. Believe me they'll forget all about it, especially since it's a group interview. I've applied for and interviewed for the same job three different times and they never even noticed. They won't care, believe me. The people who do the hiring interview constantly at jobs like that and they rarely ever remember you. I wouldn't even bother calling them to say you won't show up.

No, you'd be wasting their time and yours. Call them, tell them you are no longer available so would like to cancel the interview.
