Mormons believe more in a reward system of heaven than a punishment one. We beleive that we all have the divine potential of our heavenly father and if we prove ourselves then we can access that divinity thru continual knowledge, growth and having an eternal family.
Those that reject it will be comfortable and content and happy. They will know, however, that their actions have caused them not to be able to reach their fullest potential. In a way that is an eternal "punishment", but they wont be suffering or tortured or anything. They will be happy. They just wont have the rewards of those that have proven and done the things that would gain them this incredible gift of reaching their full potential as children of our heavenly parents.

All people will be given the opportunity to hear and accept this gospel plan, though. So many people wont have that opportunity or be in a position to truly hear the gospel on this earth. They will be given the opportunity after this life.

Your answer makes no sense. Your religion should have a definite concept of heaven and hell, esp if its Catholicism. Even if your concept is well we dont know because only God can judge, that is a belief system by your church. A church has a belief or a stand on the subject. If you dont agree with that stance then maybe you are in the wrong religion.

I am a Christian. I have a difficult time believing that nonChristians are going to Hell. I've wrestled with this question a lot. I thought "how can I believe in something that means people are going to Hell?"

I finally decided that it doesn't matter what I think, I'm never going to know the answer, so I stopped obsessing about it. I decided not to throw the baby out with the bathwater (abandon Christianity because of this).

I believe that everyone has their own relationship with God (or lack of relationship), and that God will do what He thinks is best. It's not up to me.

So I guess to answer your question, I do not believe that non-Christians are going to Hell. And I do believe in Hell.

I simply believe that the Bible gives us the plan of salvation in Acts 2:38-9. That's all there is to it-simple. If people get saved according to the plan of salvation, they will go to heaven.I leave the rest up to God.

Cadisneygirl said it all. I agree with her. But in summary as a Mormon, no I don't believe you'll go to hell just because you aren't part of my religion. That is crazy thought. I mean look at Mother Teresa!

I believe that if a person does not become born-again they will go to hell. But I also believe that God calls and shows each individual their need for Jesus and repentance. The person has the choice to accept this or not. I do not believer that a certain religion is the way to God and heaven, just Jesus.

I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. My faith doesn't agree wih/believe in the Hellfire doctrine. The Bible makes it clear that ALL have the right to choose yay or nay for serving God. It is then His choice whether they live forever or don't. No painful burning or torment.

I also do not believe that there is a cookie-cutter, one-siz-fits-all religion that is the only 'true and correct'. And if someone doesn't embrace my religion, I do not believe you will go to hell, since hell isn't a part of my religion. Only the people who believe in it will have to deal with that and fear the Satan they created.

Somethingtrinity, many people that are not of your religion also believe in being "born again". In my first initiation, I shed my old life and was born again as a Witch. Also, through reincarnation, you can be born again and again and again.

i don't think you can ask that question so broadly... i may be a catholic, but will i presume to answer for ALL catholics? no.

i, personally, don't think people who have different views from me will suffer. i believe that spirituality is about inclusion and acceptance rather than the opposite. i certainly don't have all the answers so i just live my life the best i can and i don't make judgement calls about where the people i talk to will be in the afterlife.

I have to disagree with your first statement... I believe my religion is correct for me, but not everyone else. Probably not for you, and probably not for some random person you see on the street. To think that there is one all-truthful and universally "correct" religion is not only arrogant, but foolish.

No, I do not feel that there will be any sort of punishment for people who aren't exact clones of me in their beliefs.
