1) Zorastianism was DUALISTIC, not Monotheistic
2) Zorastianism is most likely only from arounf 1000 BC- and the more likely date is only 500BC. Judaism dates backe to 1600BC. Not too difficult to see which came first...
3) What is a debate is whether Akhenaton predated Abraham or the other way around. Either way- its immaterial to Judaism. We don't care what other people believe, we only worry about what we bellieve

The good news? Zoroastrianism is indeed a monotheistic religion, centered around the worship of the god Ahura Mazda. It is widely believed to be the first monotheistic religion that ever existed; Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all borrowed from Zoroastrianism. The bad news? Organized Zoroastrianism rarely (if ever) accepts converts. You pretty much have to be born a Zoroastrian to be one. Bummer!

The first documented Monotheistic religion was the religion of the Aton in Egypt.
Technically, Zoroastrianism is more properly described as a dualistic religion (which Christianity more resembles) than an monotheistic ome.

The more I read about them the more I think they more like the Greeks than the Jews. They have their elemental thing going on and though God was uncreated they say he created good and evil and just isn't in line with anything the Jews believed.. the first mention of the Zorastrists was around 5BC in the Iran/Persia/India areas.
There was an Egyptian that believed in one God too but his religion died with his reign.

Zoroastrianism isn't monotheistic; it's ditheistic, as the good and evil deities have equally matched powers.
The real first monotheism was Atenism, but that died out after a few decades.

*shrug* I don't really care. Whether or not it's thought of as the first monotheistic religion doesn't influence Judaism at all.

Zoroastrianism is henotheistic, just like Hinduism. Of course, so is trinitarian Christianity. But the ideas of monotheism are one derivation of henotheism, which is much more complex.
