Anything made out of corn, besides food is to raise the demand for corn, the price of corn, and the profitability of corn. Ethanol etc. are a back-handed way for big business to increase profits while trying to appear green. Unfortunately, the truth is just the opposite. Non-food corn products use more carbon based resources to produce than convectional plastic bags.

I agree with sunshine. Corn is food and people are starving. Hemp is another biodegrable plant and we can't use it for anything except drugs and manila paper, it makes a lot more sense.
BTW, whoever said paper is Biodegrable is wrong, it obviously can be recycled though.

There was another bag which was once used which was biodegradable, and it was made from renewable resources too. It was called a paper bag.

I think the idea is sound but, as you point out, we need corn for food.
I think industrial hemp should be grown for bags and other products.

Yes, this is a very good idea. In California a law just went into effect where all businesses need to have a plastic bag recycle (or more accurately, reuse) bin. They can't be recycled, but plastic bags can be reused for other applications. I'd like to see more biodegradeable bags used too.
