I'm sorry, but the Nintendo Wii does not play Blu-Ray.

I recommend going with one of those players that plays both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray to be safe, but Blu-Ray does seem to have a wider adoption than HD-DVD.

Well, unfortunatly the Wii does not use blu-ray. the PS3 does. the xbox 360 has HD-DVD, the wii will not even play DVD's, i know, i have one. They are still cool tho. anyway, i think HD-DVD is the way to go, as sony has tried their own technology before, like beta max and pro duo sticks and other such things, they usually fail because sony does not sell the rights to make compatible technology, unlike what VHS and HD-DVD and SD have done.

Usually only one format will dominate the market eventually the same way mp3 dominated all the other audio formats..
I think it will be HD because it is the more commonly used format right now. Blu-ray is a proprietory format of Sony.

this debate will go on for some time to come, rumours have it that samsung are fetching a player out which plays both formats of film. my advice would be to be patient and hang onto your money for now anyway
