Any santuraries for an aggresive dog in the U.S.? I need to get rid of this dog I've been fostering. He was abused and neglected. He acts very weird at times and would deffinitely not be a family dog. No dog rescues will help me because he has broken skin on accident while going after another dog and bared his teeth at a child. I was wondering first if any retired, experianced couple without children or other pets preferrably around the Omaha, NE area are interested. Swcond perhaps there is an animal santuary where animals live mostly independently. PLEASE email me if you can help me in any way. ANYONE! If I can't find a place for him before Christmas I will have to euthanize him.

I tried obdience classes, everything. He went after my bared his teeth at my little sister cause he waas with my mom and she bent down. He got jealous. I know alot about dogs but I can't keep him. I also have a 12 lbs. dog and I have to seperate them with a baby gate. On walks they can be 3 feet apart and they're fine. I just can't put my little dog in harm's way. He really isn't as bad as I made him sound beacause I've heard of other dogs from people in my area like him. He is not a stray but I rescued him from a lady's home I know.

Some dogs cannot be saved . Even the nicest dogs cant be saved because there are not enough good suitable for them . Dogs that are animal aggressive , dog aggressive and human aggressive cannot be saved . Any Humane Society or Rescue will tell you that . Most Humane society would euthanize the dog under further circumstances . This dog is clearely a threat to not only other people but to other dogs . You probably will have no choice . Its not your fault , its the people who abused and neglected the dog throughout many years.

It sounds like the dog rescues just aren't equipt to deal w/ dogs that are dog agressive. Contact local vets to find out if they know of any no-kill shelters. A dog DOES NOT DESERVE to be put down just because it bit another dog. There are a lot of great dog trainers out there that could try to work w/ the dog and give you an expert opinion has to whether or not the dog can be rehabilitated.
Just watch Caesar's show . . . you'll see that he has worked w/ aggressive dogs as well.

Either do a search online or buy a dog training book. No need to put him down. Try Cesar Milans new book.
Also Yahoo has a great service available in pets. Check them out, they may be able to help. Good luck

That is really going to be tough.
The best thing for him is to euthanize. I hate to say that.
He can easily turn on anyone and do much damage even death. You wouldn't want to hear about him hurting an adult.
There is a reason for a rescue site not taking him.
Good luck in finding someone that will take him.
Please be up front with the new adopters of his issues.

OMG... calm down. keep the dog as far away from you as possible-if he bit a child that cant be good. keep searching-im not from Omaha, but if you have a blog go and post. this dog sounds like a serious problem, but do anything you can to stop the fact that he may have to be euthanized- that never does any good to your conscience, either. good luck- gosh, hope it goes well

did you try taking him to dog obedience training. I had a dog I got from a local shelter. She was so sweet to me and everyone in who lived in the house but would growl and go after anyone else. I had to take her to the local shelter where I got her and they put her to sleep.
But I was told with training that aggressive, territorial behavior would stop.. We have stores called petco or petsmart here in NY they offer training classes really cheap.. Hope all works out for you.... Good Luck......

Let him go...there are to many "nice" dogs out there that never find homes. Put your time into a dog that is worth saving. I know I sound cold but life is not always fair. Sorry.

You have done the right thing coming out but see if you cannot pass him to one of your friends. Then you and him/her can trade the dog and you do not have to take care of it all the time

No matter how much you want to, some dogs just can't be saved. That's not your fault. It's that of the people who originally abused him.
