According to Alcoholics Anonymous, three drinks a day makes you an alcoholic. Most medical experts, on the other hand, would advocate a Mediterranean diet with at least three glasses of red wine a day. Clearly there's a pretty fundamental disconnect here.
Nearly every major figure of the 20th century was a heavy drinker -- Martin Luther King pounded screwdrivers, Winston Churchill had his martini recipe named after him, Walt Disney "had the features of a habitual drinker," and let's not get started on Frank Sinatra. In fact, the only well-known non-drinker of the 20th century I can think of, aside from members of religions which prohibit drinking entirely, was Adolph Hitler.
That being said, alcohol addiction is a very real and possible problem for a number of people, even if that number is smaller than some people would have you believe. If your drinking is making your life worse, you should seek help; if not, your family is likely just misguided. Parents, despite what they may feel, have no right to prevent their children from living their own lives in the way that they find worthwhile.

Oh, yes, you definitely have a problem. That is WAY outside the bounds of healthy drinking. I bet the reason your friends drink more than you do is because you hang around with other people who have drinking problems. Birds of a feather and all that.
I successfully quit drinking over 9 years ago (yeah, I drank like you do)...so I am here to tell you it can be done.
I cannot, however, agree with those who tell you to go to AA. I went for a LONG time, many years, because I was told it was the "only" way to get better...and while I did get sober I saw so much sick behavior in the group that I cannot unconscionably recommend it to anyone else.

a 12 pack a night is alot! im not going to judge you or anything.
but if you do NOT think you have a problem then try to go a week without a dro pof alcohol or beer. if you feel intense cravings and the shakes along with flu like symptoms then yes you have a problem. but a 12 pack a night is definetly way too much for the average person

You are likely in denial, it is not others that may drink more than you that your family is concerned about , it is you. It takes facing the problem, and being able to say : I ......have a problem with alcohol, and need to start getting some help in order to detach myself from drinking and start attending meetings regularly, that will get you the help that you need, before it is too late. Alcohol is a toxic substance, and addictive as well, heal your body and get well Merry Christmas

No doubt that you are a candidate for AA. Half a case of beer a day, or even one beer every day is too much. Every single time you get drunk, you kill brain cells that can never ever be restored or reproduced. You are only allotted a certain number of them in your lifetime. I am 52 years old, used to drink quite a lot, often going in to work with more than a little buzz on. My short term memory now is the pits. I strongly suggest you get help. You obviously have friend who care and every day you wait hurts them more.

If you think you might be an alcoholic, you are a problem drinker. Get help! Don't make me have to come over there!!! Do it now! People who drink alcohol, often would STILL fail a breathalizer the next morning, when they think they are driving sobber!

Yeah, sorry, that's a problem.
Having more than three drinks more than twice a year actually makes one an alcoholic. This is according to AA.
Do you drink alone?
Do you often have to lie to cover up your drinking?
Do you feel guilty about how much you're drinking, or spending on alcohol?
If you answered yes to ANY of those three questions, yes, you definitely have a problem. I'd seriously suggest you go to AA.

When the people closest to you come to you and tell you that you need rehab you should begin to realize that there is something wrong.
