for my three year old son to have that could be similar to hot chocolate? It being so cold out here, I usually warm up from a walk with a coffee or hot chocolate. What can I give my son that won't be too hot for him but to warm him up?

Hot is your responsibility. You can control the temperature. As for a great chocolate drink try

Oval-tine ! And it is good for you !

Cheers !

You can try some decaf tea, or chicken broth put an ice cube or two in it so it's still warm but not icky room temp. If you do hot chocolate, add cold milk. Don't put the whip cream on top cause it holds all the heat in and takes forever to cool down. You kinda have to play around with it every kid has a diff tolerance for heat. My 3 year old loves hot bathes and can handle hot stuff pretty well, but when I was her age everything was too hot for me.

Apple cider, warmed milk, warm broth, and the hot chocolate can be cooled down with milk and extra marshmallows.

My three year old drinks hot chocolate after it cools off for
about a minute. My sister used to work at Starbucks and
he has a cute little mug that he uses.

As others have said, warm cider would be good. You can also make hot chocolate with warm milk and Ovaltine. That way, he will also get some vitamins from it.
