I think this just might fit into your price range. Look at Samsung LCDs. I was in the TV store today watching Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer on Blu-Ray on a 46" Samsung LCD. There were many times when I caught myself feeling that I was in the room with them or looking through a clear window, rather than watching a movie.

All I can say about the quality was "Wow!" I can honestly say I have never seen a clearer picture on a TV than that one.

There was a Sony LCD next to it playing X-Men 3 on Blu-Ray and I never had the same feeling.

Agreed, I was looking for the same and the Samsung was the best at the time in the shop when comparing,

However I have not checked out the new Pioneer Plasma yet which is supposed to be really good,

I suggest you go in the shop and compare the 2
