I think lots of people look sad when they are just spacing out. If they are really looking at you, and not just kind of zoning out then you should definitely ask them what's up. But chances are it has nothing to do with you. Ask a nearby friend if they see it the same way.

Good question! I've been wondering the same thing with the guy I like (and who possibly likes me?).
Maybe these guys think we're just good to look at and they're upset they can't find a way to talk to us? That's more in a perfect world though.
Do these guys seem like they like you at all?

The truth is...they can't see you! lol
well its simple in fact...imagine yourself thinking about something important or sad or thinking about problem to solve? and imagine you do this in public place?
well sure in public you can't close your eyes like you are sitting in your home sofa,so while heavy thinking you are going to stare at anything or any person around you...maybe you even can't see this person you are looking for...cause the mind is tired of thinking and eyes is fixed...
I think you can imagine the situation now :) oh and about why they look sad? that is natural...imagine again yor are sitting there at school thinking about something sad? your face will normaly represent your mind mood...and if while your thinking you remembered some funny joke or happy memory with your friends...you gonna smile at the one you are staring at...now he will think you smile for him! :)
hope I explained it well :)

I have the same type of facial expression and I get this a lot. It's just the way we are and we can't change it. I'm also not going to walk around with a smile plastered on my face. You can't change who you are. Maybe people need to identify our facial expressions when we're calm and relaxed, rather than compare us to other people's expressions when they're mad. What does a mad face look like anyway? Facial expressions are very specific to each individual.

We'd only be guessing, we have no information to go on as to their thinking processes.
Why not go up and talk to them like a friend? Just be a friend, don't ask about their facial expressions.

I think it is because they want to ask you out or talk to you and they do not feel confident enough to.
