I have used both Carfax & Autocheck.
They are both about the same as far as the information that they provide, however I like the page layout of Autocheck.
Autocheck is a little less expensive too, so I feel it is a better value.

In any case, they are both subject to error, & I would ALWAYS have a vehicle physically inspected by a qualified mechanic before buying.

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

I used carfax on my last 2 used vehicle transactions (1 buying, 1 selling) and thought it was well worth the money both times. Haven't used anything else.

Check 5 locations. door jam, glove box, under the hood where the engine specs are, on the dash, on the very front of the dash (drivers side). Or even the gaas cap What is a XF Falcon?

Carfax it is - but get an inspection by a mechanic - no report will tell you everything.

I only use Carfax, and there is nothing wrong with that site.
