I have heard more and more lately that they are using them as a house breaking tool. Do they think its a kid and they won't like being wet or something? or is it just laziness?
Oh BTW, I mean though ones you get at the pet store, not actual baby diapers.

I guess it's up to them if they want to be changing doggie diapers for the rest of the dog's life, because I don't see how it helps housetraining. Although it's pretty pathetic to make a dog wear a diaper all the time. Poor dog!

I think if someone is too lazy to housetrain, changing dog diapers is actually more work in the long run. SO really, I think there is no upside to making your dog wear diapers.

The only time I've seen a dog in diapers is when the girl dog is in heat, for house breaking, shame shame!! If you can't get home in time to let dog out before it does it's business, you probably shouldn't have the dog, give it to someone who needs a companion, don't leave poor doggy alone, forcing it to sit in it's own waste. Dogs don't draw conclusions like that, it's too complicated a thought for a dog to rationalized "OK, I don't like to be dirty, so I won't go until it's time" The dog is going to think "Hey, I really gotta go, what is this thing on me?? How can I bite it off." It can't be expected to have such an understanding, schema too complicated.

I have a female that I have to put a diaper on when she is in heat but I haven't heard of people using them as a housetraining method because honestly I don't see how that works....a dog is not going to rationalize having wet pants with supposing to go potty outside. People will do what they will when it comes to their dogs though and I guess we don't have a say in it since most people get just as offended if you critizize their ways in raising a dog like you would if they had human kids.

I think it has to do with the laziness. People want all these fancy "breeds" but want to have the least work possible owning one. They also probably think it looks "cute" or like a baby or something. I knew a family who used to wipe their Bichon's bottom every time she went to the bathroom. People are weird.

Yup, laziness. Just take the damn dog outside a lot- that's how you housetrain it. People just think that a dog is not a big a responsibility as it is, and some yes, think its a kid.

I have no clue. I have heard of people using them on disabled dogs {mainly paralyzed dogs}, but never a normal dog. That's just laziness!

Very lazy for some dog owners!

HOWEVER, some older dogs have a bladder control problem. I think they should be restricted to just this use.

I think it is a little dumb.

I think they use them more now for females in heat.

I think they are lazy and need to have kids if they have to resort to diapers.

Lazy! I see no point in them. I could go on, but I am to tired.
