First bring the chicken, because the fox cant eat the food.
then bring over the fox, but when the fox gets to the other side, bring the chicken back, and put it where it first was, then bring the food, (so now the fox and food are on the otherside, and the chicken is on its own).
and then finally bring the chicken across.!

First you take the chicken over, then get the fox, take it over, and switch it with the chicken. Take the chicken back over to the other side and get the chicken food and leave the chicken. Once you put the chicken food to the other side, go back and get the chicken
This is one of the oldest riddles in the book

The man takes the chicken across first, leaving the fox and grain together on the other side.He returns and gets the fox, but when he deposits the fox on the other side, he takes the chicken BACK across, so that the fox and chicken aren't left alone together. He drops the chicken off back on the other side, picks up the grain, and takes it across to deposit with the fox. Finally, he returns to retrieve the chicken and takes it to the other side.

OK, nice one Disciple! :)) And what will you do with the fox? Hmm maybe new...boots, for the cat in the other story. :))
I'd take the chicken and leave it on the other side. Then I'd take the fox from the first side and leave it on the second side. Then take the chicken with me and leave it on the first side. Then take the seeds and take them to the second side. Then go and bring the chicken. Then I'd go to sleep, 'cause I'd be tired and while I'd sleep, the chicken would eat the seeds then the fox would eat the chicken then it would run away.
