okay so i have two kittens, one is 3 months the other is 4 months, i did a food shop today and i thought it made more sense to bulk buy their food as it works out cheaper and lasts longer. they have been eating kitten food all along and today i could have sworn i picked up the kitten food but i must have picked up the regular cat food. so ive just bought 40 pouches of food i now cant use. i just wondered if it'd b ok to feed them the cat food??? and if anyone else has done this? thanks

Your kittens will be absolutely fine. As a couple of people before me have said, a few years ago they didn't do kitten food - kittens and cats all ate normal cat food. Just mash it it up so that it's easier for them to eat. Keep some fresh water near by for them. Don't give them milk as they can not digest it. You can buy special milk for cats and kittens in the pet food section of the supermarket but it is not real milk, it's specially formulated for cats/kittens. But in my experience water is far better for them.

the kittens will be fine. My 4 month old kitten actually prefers the cat food to the kitten food. Which I guess works out cause my older cat like the kitten food better.

Your kittens will be fine if they eat the adult food. I used to have outdoor cats and they all ate adult cat food even when they were kittens. They did have a hard time chewing the food, since the adult cat food has bigger chuncks then the kitten food. If you see your kittens having a hard time chewing, just soak the food in water for about 10-15 minutes, then give it to them. You don't have to mash it up for them, the food will be so soaked it will be like eating a dumpling!

Don't worry about it, put the food down and they'll eat it! If they don't like it take the lot back to the store as i'm pretty sure they'll give you your money back and deduct the cost of the one pouch. Your kittens will seem as if they're stuck on one particular food then change their minds, its what cats do i'm afraid! My girl was notoriously fussy and i had to buy her food tin by tin, day by day so i'd suggest you adopt the same process, it'll save you money plus the trip back to the store to change what they don't like! Fussy sods they are ha ha ha.

my little one (kitten) has been eating mum and dads adult food from the moment he could walk. he stopped having kitten food from 12 weeks old. I did alot of research before i changed his diet and spoke to my vet an explianed that he was eating mum and dads food and was it ok for him to have the same. i was told that there was slightly more protein in kitten food than adult but as my little furbaby was still getting milk and kitten biscuits it was fine he is now on adult biscuits (8 months old) and weighs a healthy weight. the only thing i would say is once on adult food continue to give adult food so as not to upset tummies (i have brought kitten food instead of adult). give kitten biscuits and kitten/cat milk. i hope this helps

What I would do is mix the adult food with some kitten food that you meant to buy .It is important that they eat kitten food at this age because It contains all of the nutrients that they need at this young age.

Take the rest back if you are worried the store will change them for you as long as you got the reciept. I have done the same as you before but i just mushed it up a bit more and the cats ate it fine and to no ill effect.

If they're not opened, the store will take them back for an exchange. It's easy, but remember to bring your receipt with it too, that makes it much easier for them to switch the foods for you.

Just mash it up with a fork and it will be fine. Years ago they didn't sell kitten food so you just had to use ordinary cat food.

It's perfectly alright for them to eat Cat food. But be sure to wet it alittle bit before feeding it to them. You don't want them to have a hard time chewing on the food. ^_^

Also: Be sure to have plenty of water nearby.
