When I was 13 I would have loved knowing a girl that did that. But as an adult....I think the porn isn't normal for girls. It's usually a guy thing. But 12 is when boys and girls start discovering their sexual side. So that part is normal.

Child masturbating to pornography? No, not at all normal.
It's one thing for a child to explore their own body, and to masturbate because it feels good. It is quite another for them to fantasize about sex with another person at that age, and use porn to reinforce that fantasy. I would also question where a 12yr old got ahold of porn tapes as well. Did an adult give them to them? Watching porn indicates an unusual intimate knowledge of sex, that usually comes from an adult molesting them.

Very normal to masterbate...not normal to do it while watching porn....at least for a 12 yr old girl. 12 yr olds are generally in the discovery phase so masterbation is one of the things they discover. I think I was about 11 or 12 when I first started.... but I didnt have access to porn...

You've got to be a realist, and not get excited. When I was 12, there were 2 things I NEVER HAD. Common sense, and bodily fluids. THE ONLY thing that's changed, is technology. VCR and DVD's replaced magazines. There's 2 types of people. One's that have rubbed one out, and ones that lie and say they'd never done such a thing. It's in the DNA. It's no big deal. Just don't get caught. The only law you're breaking, in the law of embarrassment.

I would say the masturbation part is normal for a 12 year old however i dont think it is normal for a 12 year old to be watching porn.

Nothing wrong with pornography or masturbating to it. Maybe you could talk to your friend in a general way - something like "have you ever seen a porn movie - what's it like - do you play with yourself when you watch it" that sort of thing
