tiffinynb93 is a great example of Christians that can't give straight answers on questions that prove God doesn't exist!

My mother and my whole family is Christian. However I through rational thinking and observing the world around me have come to the conclusion that God does not exist.

This is a picture of a baby with Trisomy 13; a defect in which there are 3 rather than 2 of the thirteeth chromosome. Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21) ocurrs the same way, during embryonic develpment when something doesn't go right. There is a mistake; an error. And it can happen to anyone. I see these kind of mistakes EVERY DAY in my line of work. It just happens. No reason. At least nothing medical science has been able to explain as yet. Hopfully, someday we will understand and perhaps be able to stop these sort of things from happening.

However, anti-choice religious types who believe every conception is a gift from god and who believe everything happens for a reason, would also have to believe malformed fetuses and babies are exactly what they are supposed to be. Either god has a really sick sense of humor or is powerless to stop such a horable defect. Or, sinse "everything happens for a reason," perhaps god is using these poor babies for some unfathonable reason.

Birth defects occur randomly in predictable ratios to the general population. When that occurs, geneticists do look for a familial link, but none usually exists.

I think the cause is mostly chemical; if a pregnant woman breathes formaldehyde too much or uses excessive drugs or alcohol her baby is likely to have an anomaly.

And sometimes there is no clear reason at all.

No. Sometimes there are errors in the DNA coding when the sperm and egg meet, which cause birth defects.

If you're going to believe the Adam and Eve bit, consider that it would have eliminated itself over the thousands of years.

You can judge that when you have eternal life. You don't have to believe in God at all. But if I were you I would believe in God and go to heaven rather than go to hell because I didn't believe in God. Wouldn't you. Would you want to live your after life with the rest of your family or possibly go to hell knowing that there was something that you could do about it? Well in mi opinion I would. There are alot of ppl out there that don't believe in God. But if there wasn't a God then how can you explain the angels. How can you explain the 10 commandments? How can you explain the whole entire bible(new and old testiments?)? Well I am going to leave it at that.

the adam and eve squib is an utter red herring.

whether adam and eve existed or not the human population must have been tiny at some stage in its development. from the point of view of inbreeding it makes very little difference whether we are descended from a single couple (adam and eve) or three or four male /female pairs (the out of africa hypothesis).

isn't there enough which is obviously nonsensical in the creation story to persuade you not to bring up areas where the creation story and classical theory of evolution so nearly agree?

the reason people are so messed up today is because god is not ruling this world... the bible clearly states that satan the devil is the ruler of this world and the god of this world right now. the reason you dont believe in god is because it is difficult to see his workings and things like that in the fog of the teachings of satan himself. how can you blame a birth defect on god if we are living in satans world? but then again... after the idea and beauty of birth how could you say that there is no god at all?

No, the reason people have birth defects is because they were Facist Dictators in a previous life. Or they were Zionists in a previous life. Or they were people who think they are reincarnations of Cleopatra in a previous life.

If you don't believe in God, why are you expounding on the Adam and Eve issue?
