I have now worked in China for around four years, and im wondering when i should or if i would be given a Chinese Passport (citizenship)

and give up what? you will always be an outsider.. i personally would NEVER give up my British Passport, nor my nationality.

You're not given citizenship the same way you get a present. You must apply for it. You must have Chinese citizenship before you get a Chinese passport.

I am also interested in finding out, my wife is chinese and i know that that is STILL not enough to get a passport,
They dont give duel passports so be carefull

Why would you want to unless you're a died in the wool communist? And of course they wouldn't just hand you citizenship and a passport, you'd have to apply for it and prove you are a reliable communist. I suppose it would help if you memorized Mao's Little Red Book. But again why would you want to?

The chinese are smrart with their immigrantion. You must be an ethnic chinese to be a citizen. If only UK was the same.
