The Holy Spirit is the one that opens up the eyes into the spiritual realm. People in other countries are touched by the Holy Spirit. It also says in the Bible that creation speaks about God. We all will come to the point of knowing that we need to accept Jesus or go to hell. We make the choice to serve Him or not. We send ourself to hell, not God. When I came to Jesus, as I did as an adult, I told myself that I wished I had known Him as a child. You can only understand the things about God and His ways after accepting Jesus. Before that, it does not really make sense. I use to ask the same question. I know see and understand because I have the Holy Spirit living inside of me.

I don't believe in that sort of God. :) Might be why I'm a Pagan.
But as to the Christian side of things, at least in my opinion, the Christian God gave his followers free will. The question really becomes, how can Christians (and I was one, so I know what I'm talking about as a former Southern Baptist) choose to do evil, choose to let people suffer without comfort, starve, have undrinkable water, etc.? To say that God allows these things is absolutely silly to me. He doesn't ALLOW anything, we do. He gave us the tools to do what is right, gave us dominion over the earth, and then WE blame Him for not doing anything.
No wonder they get thrown in hell. That kind of blame defense doesn't work in earthly courts, so why should it work in a heavenly one?

he's made an offer to grant anyone a huge inheritence if they want to claim it. the conditions , are to ask forgivenness and to accept him as God and to try to live right. everyone makes thier own choices and is responsible for their own destiny. by mercy , it means, that he will judge and he is able to know the heart of each individual. we do not have the ability to be able to judge , consequently, i think this is why we are told not to judge ? it gets complicated . but to keep it simple .. people cause themself to go to hell. they decide who they want to serve and they get what they want. God really wants everyone to go to heaven. He tries all the time with people.. People , make the decisions , that they don't want the relationship. There are consequences/benefits to any decision. This is how I see it all. I'm sure many look at it differently. Where do you stand ? How do you see it ? Pray about that . Get your own answers. No one will have to sell you anything. Seek / Ask and you'll find.

YES! I can and will reconcile the idea that God is loving and merciful, yet throws people to hell for not being Christians...
I THINK IT'S TIME TO TAKE THE BLAME OFF OF GOD AND PUT IT WHERE IT BELONGS... ON YOUR BACK, MY BACK AND EVERY ONE ELSE'S BACK.
You are dead wrong for such an assumption.... this is your belief based on what you think you know about God, when in fact you actually seem to know little or nothing about Him at all. God is just and fair in His final assessment and judgment based on the life you decide to live.
GOD SENDS NO ONE TO HELL, EACH SOUL CHOOSES THEIR OWN DESTINY BASED ON THEIR DECISION TO ACCEPT OR DENY HIM AS THEIR GOD, CREATOR AND SAVIOR.
Today... this minute....this very second.... NOW - the choice is yours to accept or reject Him... If you REJECT him, then HELL is the choice you made... If you ACCEPT Him and live accordingly, then you are Heaven bound...
Choose you this day who you will serve and then remember from here on out.... your life will be the evidence God used for or against you to judge your eternal destiny!
This critical decision you just made determined your destiny... NOT God!

The existence of hell is dubious. Frankly, so is the existence of God. But, if there is a God that many hope there is, then hell doesn't make a lot of sense against the metaphor of God as parent. No good parent condemns their child, no matter how far they've strayed in their relationship. There again, what good parent makes a child wonder if they're even there?

He's loving and merciful because He gives us warning after warning after warning (just as loving parents do) and lets us know that the wages of sin is death! Even after providing for us, and we disrespect Him over, and over, and over again, He is still forgiving enough to put His arms around us and love us if we genuinely repent and talk to Him. He forgives, but you have got to know that we humans are selfish, thoughtless, hurtful people! Christianity is all about the fact that Jesus got his flesh ripped off of his body in an attempt to just say, "ok, look...for all of the dirt you guys have done, I'LL take the pain and punishment! Just acknowledge that I love you enough to do this and you're forgiven!" Suppose you took the rap for some sucky people who wanted everything for themselves and didn't care about what happened to anyone. wouldn't you at least want then to say thank you and know what you did for them? Why are people so D!@#!ned SELFISH and cold? So yeah, you'd turn your back on someone who continued to lie, steal, kill, destroy, hurt, and only think of themselves after you've fed, clothed taught, provided for and gotten nailed on a cross for them too!

Tango, where do you get your information from because it's not factual. I'm Catholic and I have never heard that you can only go to heaven if you're a christian. All God asks is that you believe in him and believe that Jesus died for our sins. And if you don't believe in God you most likely wouldn't believe in or want to go to heaven anyway so there's nothing for you to worry about.

Or take a look at the "Old Testament God":
Blood, Death, Betrayal of His own advocates, Genocide of entire cities and races; Hell, it's worse than a "Conan" novel!

Becuase jesus died so that we all have the chance to be accepted into heaven even though we are all sinners if we accept jesus' sacrifice for us. so because of jesus' sacrifice, if you accept him you can have everasting life even if you've had a dreadful past, i don't know about any of you but thats pretty much being merciful to me considering we are all sinners.

Your interpretation of the God is greatly mislead and misleading. Non believers go to a waiting place to be taught (otherwise everyone that never had a chance to know of Jesus or God would be doomed to "hell"). There, they can either accept or reject the teachings.
The rest is kind of long.
