it sounds like one of two things. One is that this could be some kind of a tumor of the connective tissue underneath the skin which normally constitutes the earlobe. The most probable possibility is clogged sebaceous gland of the earlobe. It is not uncommon to have clogged sebaceous glands in the earlobe. They are a result of poor hygiene or some kind of an infection. Most people don’t even notice them, or notice them as small lumps in the earlobe, but some of them tend to get infected and they can grow to be very big and can become a great problem. They can hurt but they don’t have to, the pain usually appears when the lump starts pressing on some nerve ending in the earlobe. Your best bet would be to go see a doctor and try to get this checked out. Either they will tell you it's nothing to worry about, or they will help you get better, sounds like a win-win situation!

Does it hurt?? I have long hair that I always wear down and it covers my ears. I get a "lump" in one or both ear lobes every once and while that is like a painful zit under the skin, probably from having my hair (w/ styling products or just from natural hair oil) touching my ears. Gross I know, but its nothing serious.

It is probably a cyst. I would wait 2 days and if it hasn't gone down, go to a doctor. The ear is a good spot to get cysts since we lay our heads down to sleep. You could put a hot compress on it and see if it decreases in size.

good luck :)

You should definetly go to the doctor, this lump can be anything but only the doctor can tell you exactly what it is.

i have the same thing it goes away and comes back.... the doctor will tell you to pop it it may even be a zit but my dad got an infection after he peirced his ear and he got a bump that he was told to pop

It is tender? If so, its probably just a pimple (yes, not even visible, just a bump inside). If it keeps growing or doesn't go away soon you could call your doctor about it.

It's either a cyst or a zit. If it doesn't go away on its own, then go to a doctor.

It is more than likely a small cyst that will go away on its own, and that is why you haven't noticed it before
