I'm a catholic and I want to pray for my soldier every day who's in Iraq to keep him safe (and also prayer to give me strength during this). I don't know the best way to pray, what prayers, or I was thinking of the St.Jude novena? What do you think? Please I ask also to keep him in your prayers. Thank you all in advance.

My grandmother always swore by St. Jude's Novena and they say it's never known to fail. My prayers are with you both.

Saint jude actaully preahced in Irak and Persia and there the Chaldean Christians, both Catholic and Orthodox honour him every year with a novena of Masses and holy Communion to commemorate his feast. He was a cousin of Jesus, very childlike and of intrepid faith, he also carried a portrait of jesus to a king in Edesa the king was cured on seing the painting of Jesus face, that painting still exists somewhere. I think he is the right Saint to ask for help especially for you soldier. I will also pray for him. If you say One Our Father, One Hail Mary and One Glory be for nine consecutive days or even every day in honour of St. Jude for him that would do nicely

Can't hurt, hun!

But you know you can go right to Jesus for prayer, right? Ask Jesus to keep him safe for you, and you are getting the best protection possible.

My prayers will be with your soldier, too!

Of course sweetie - be right back *checking links* How sad for him. I wasn't raised Catholic, and never prayed a Novena before, but I did just now. By the way, I'm going to the store right now and will get a candle just for him.
