This question is regarding it's use in photography. I've heard the less pure will damage your image in time,.

It depends on what the other 0.05% is. :)

I believe (and I'm no expert, just hear say) that the higher one is specially created for medical purposes and only came into photography...because is sells. It (.05 extra purety) serves no real purpose in photography.

Honestly, they're both overkill and far too expensive.

What Photographer's Formulary sells is more than good enough for photo purposes. In fact, the inert contents of photo grade chemicals really are inert for photo purposes, so in general buying photo grade is really the best(and least expensive) option.

Photographer's Formulary AgNO3 is roughly half the price of the least expensive grade which Sigma-Aldrich sells. Alfa-Aesar is less expensive than even Photographer's Formulary, however you have to be associated with a school or lab in order to buy from them.
