The beast is root under the soil that eats minerals thing and the beauty is the trees with leaves and flower etc.

The leaves are an organ of the tree. They provide a function, just as the roots do.

to a tree, her leaves are like a woman's hair... the lost of it can be taumatic... but luckily for her, in the spring it returns to it's full glory... the roots remind her of her ability to live despite the cutting down of even her body.... It's like beauty surviving the beast...
