Yes pellets are more accurate since the .177 size is matched to the barrel, and able to use the barrel's rifling and "spin" to avoid in-flight sway and stronger since they are heavier, less fps but more energy in mass to hit harder.

Personally I have pistols and rifles that also shoot both but I avoid using BBs altogether since they are not matched to the barrel size they "bounce" around inside the barrel and will score the rifling prematurely.

Bbs Vs Pellets

BBs are steel balls.
Pellets come in a variety of weights and shapes, for different purposes. Most are lead. Some are actually round lead balls, but not considered bb's by most.
In a gun that shoots both, the bb will come out of the barrel faster, because it is lighter. Both will have the same muzzle energy, but that doesn't take in the characteristics of bb's vs. pellets, on target, the pellet will be more devastating.
As for accuracy, a pellet can take advantage of the rifling of the barrel as it imparts spin. In the case of "rifles" like Crosman 760 or 764, that can shoot both, it doesn't matter, because there's no rifling and they are guns, not rifles.
Pellets, including lead balls, fit the barrel tighter, which further improves accuracy.

A 'BB` is a steel ball, often copper plated.
A pellet is a hollow lead wasp waisted cup.
The pellet is more accurate out of most rifled
guns, and will take up more energy, (less leakage).
BB's will ricochet more easily, especially if shot
at hard surfaces.

a BB is a small, hard plastic ball. A pellet is made of metal and shaped like a bullet.

usually people start shooting with a less accurate and less powerful BB gun before moving on to using a more powerful and more accurate pellet gun. I would say a pellet gun is one step below a .22 rifle.

BB guns shoot a small round copper or sometimes other metal bb's. These bb's can travel at many different speeds and are pretty accurate depending on the BB gun. Pellet guns shoot pellets which are similar to bb's except they are cylander shaped. They tend to be more accurate and powerful. (also depends on pellet gun) Airsoft guns shoot little plastic balls. Similar in shape and size to bb's but plastic instead of metal. Also, they fire at slower velocities. For target shooting I would recommend using a bb or pellet gun. For shooting birds I would recommend the pellet gun. As far as models. Any walmart crossman type bb or pellet gun would work fine for your purposes.

bb round pellet pointed, pellet kill bb injure, pellet more accurate bb almost as accurate. If you're tryin to pierce something like a squirrel or your little sister then use a pellet, if you just doing target practice use bbs. Bbs are less expensive in most cases toooo

just so you know, Airsoft guns hurt a little, a little sting type hurt (so be sure to terrorize the neighbors!). after you kill a few birds you should upgrade your targets to innocent pedestrians. but moving on.... BB guns kill and maim small animals. there is little difference between pellet and BB guns. airsoft is like paintball, except with little plastic pieces. if your just getting into airsoft i recommend a low end gun. of you want a pistol, i cant help you there. but i do enjoy firing P90 Airsoft Guns (P90s are compact sub machine guns/personal defense weapons with a high rate of fire and impressive accuracy for its class) and they look cool too. all i can really say is to just look on eBay....thats where i got my first one. you can find anything there cheaper! i do recommend an AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) or a CO2 automatic gun. what can i say, i love suppressive fire!! :D

all lead pellets are slower more accurate and have more knock down power but the gamo raptor (18K gold) are 25%faster than standard lead have more knock down power and are even more accurate*
