The easiest way to make croutons is to cube the bread before you toast it. Use kitchen shears (scissors) to make it super easy. If the bread is in loaves, slice it first.
Want to make it flavored? Toss the bread cubes in a small amount of Italian salad dressing.
Spread the bread cubes out in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Check it about half wat through for doneness. (Some ovens cook faster than others)

Yes toasting and cubing is how to make the crouton..If you want seasoned ones get the powdered salad dressing (like ranch, etc.) and LIGHTLY sprinkle one side of the sliced bread, spritz with water to just dampen the seasoning--repeat the other side and toast/cube. You can use your own seasonings as well.

lay the bread out on a tray and let it dry out, cut it and season it with garlic, parsley and bag it up...you can freeze it. i also would make french toast, bread pudding, or let it dry and cut in small pieces and take a walk and feed it to some birds...
