Religion lies. God does not. Neither does Jesus. Pilate asked Jesus, 'What is truth?'. Throughout the gospels, Jesus prefaces his answers with the expression, "Truly I tell you..."

I have learned, the hard way, to stop listening to men and to listen to God. Men misinterpret the word of God and twist it to suit their own preferred theology. I was brought up to believe what my 'elders' and 'betters' told me. It was only after I left the religion that held me in thrall that I started to ask questions, seek answers and actually do some serious research.

However, it took a humble and contrite heart to bring me to my knees and seek forgiveness. That forgiveness was immediate and absolute.

Your question - and the answer is that God / Jesus / the Holy Spirit know our innermost thoughts, our hearts, our minds our every weakness and strength. You need not concern yourself about man-made interpretations of heaven or hell. You need not torture yourself about false doctrine. You simply have to answer to God. He knows. He understands. Do not concern yourself with the here and after - right now all you have concern yourself with is the here and now. How are you with God, right now? Is Jesus your Lord and Saviour? Have you been born again by water and by the Holy Spirit? Do you love the word of God and seek to do God's will? If so, then you can trust the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct you. Give it over to God, in prayer.

Shortly after John 3:13 you can read John 3:15-16 "...that whoever believes may in him have eternal life. For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." So Jesus is not the only one there. Truth is in the eye of the beholder, so the Lord must weight your intentions of your heart. Haughty eyes and a proud heart, The lamp of the wicked is sin. Our sins can be forgiven by grace, but our undeserving eyes must see the truth and our hearts must accept the love, for even after being born again no man can live a perfect life.

ok, i HATE it when people take bible verses out of context. Here is some more of John 3. It's John 3:13-15

"13 No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of man;

14 as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up

15 so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

16 For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

You're being unfair, Jimi. There are numerous contradictions in the unholy book, yes, but with good editing - these could have been eliminated years ago. Comparing the Christian right with pedophilia is also too harsh.

I too am well versed in the Bible and other religious books. However, I see religions more as Big Business supporting other businesses just as they have done for hundreds and hundreds of years.

In other words, religion has not lied to you. It has simply told a lot of supernatural tales to trap parents into indoctrinating their innocent offspring, and thus ensure a continuation of multi-billion dollar profits.

At least, that's the way I see it.

I think the passage from John 3:13 means that until Jesus came, no man had gone to heaven. That was the point of Jesus allowing himself to be sacrificed on the cross: he died for our sins so we could go to heaven.

Also, don't get carried away with the whole bible = christian's lie thing. The important part is the IDEA behind it... the bible makes it difficult to tell exactly what is going to happen to our souls when we die, but the important idea is that eventually we're all going to die, we're all going to be judged and have our chance to accept redemption, and then we'll find out if we're going to heaven or hell.

The Christian religion has not lied. Some who profess to be Christian do lie. Jesus states that no man comes to the Father except by me. Forgiveness of sins only occures when you trust Jesus ask for His forgiveness and ask Him into your heart to help guide your life. We will all have a judgment day and only those in Christ will be saved.

John: Never knew JC. His writings were somewhere around 90 AD. Wrote about someone who was JC or some other savior.

All the NT stories are written in the third person meaning no one actually spoke or knew the JC they wrote about. They were stories possibly from word of mouth or hearing about or reading some of Bro Paul's things. You would also note that John never wrote about the birth or baptism of JC amongst other things that the other stories told.

Proverbs: Many of them written by the Egyptians.

Nothing was ever written or specifically said by JC other then by hearsay. Much that has been written is ABOUT JC not BY JC.

Facts and truths change all the time. Denying that is to deny time in general as we understand it.

Alright.... I'm going to set aside the insult part and try and answer your question.

When Jesus said this he was stating a fact. Before him no man HAD ascended to heaven. The idea of a soul that survives death and goes either to heaven or hell is unscriptural.

Proof: Romans 6:7 - "he that has died has been ACQUITTED of his sins; Ezekiel 18 4 - "the soul that is sinning it itself will DIE"; Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10 - the dead do nothing, feel nothing are conscious of nothing.

It wasn't until after what the Apostle John referred to in Revelation as "the lord's day" that select individuals were raised to heavenly life (Revelation 7)

it is all to do with the psychology of having followers and of coming up an "us" and a "them". The ban on beef is extra to do with this than nutrition hygiene (whether it is genuine that in the time of England for years beef became into considered a "iciness meat" pre-refrigeration). "look at those grimy human beings, they consume beef - they are not like US - the coolest ones". It would not certainly rely what regulations you %., purely create a distinction. human beings did consume beef interior the middle East - otherwise what have been the Gaderine swine and their herder doing. Steven Pinker notes that nutrition taboos are a valuable gadget to maintain ability defectors interior the team. nutrition taboos are very sturdy. The grubs etc eaten by making use of nearby Australians produce a disgusted reaction in many Westerners yet for sure the grubs are nutritious and not risky. as quickly as a taboo is discovered as a newborn it is complicated to interrupt - this facilitates ward off the newborn straying to the "incorrect" team and changing faith. The psychological tricks of the non secular are many. evaluate a parish church, temple, mosque, synagogue or regardless of in pre- electric days. Warmly lit, luxury decorations, chanting - a mystical place. in case you do no longer belong, in case you do no longer understand the regulations you omit out. needless to say, all this fees money so i will purely take 10% (a tithe) of each and every thing you have have been given.

I don't believe in doctrines of men, and neither do I question what I have been taught, because I have been taught with the bible, not a personal interpretation(or blatant lies as your question refers to) of the scriptures, but an accurate and complete knowledge of them. Now do not mistake me, complete does not mean that I am an "all-knowing" priest or some bible scholar. Rather, I am a bible student, and I plan to be one for the rest of my life.

It seems to me that you have 2 questions, and both contain much depth. First of all, you ask why you have been promised heaven or hell when john 3:13 states that, "No man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the Son of Man(Jesus Christ)." The answer is simple. If you look down at verse 17 of that same account, you will find your answer. verse 17 says, "For God sent forth his Son into the world, not for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him." So for those faithful ones with that heavenly hope, Jesus paved the way, so to speak, for them to be resurrected to that heavenly position. Without his sacrifice, no one, whether their hope be an earthly one or a heavenly one, could be saved. Verse 16 brings this out.

Secondly, you asked why does Proverbs 21:2 state that God weights the heart if you're to be judged by your sins. I'm going to post the scripture from the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures as i did previously. Please do not be offended by this. This is the translation that I particularly understand the easiest without losing the original meaning and application of the scriptures. It says, "Every way of a man is upright in his own eyes, but Jehovah(God's personal name) is making an estimate of hearts." I must answer this with another scripture. Besides, you're looking for answers, right? 2 Timothy 3:16,17 does state, "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." Now on to the answer. 1 Samuel 16:7. I am going to explain the context of the scripture. This is Jehovah speaking to Samuel as he sees the man Eli'ab. Samuel feels that this man, apparently large in stature, is surely the anointed one of Jehovah. But we read in verse 7, "But Jehovah said to Samuel: "Do not look at his appearance and at the height of his stature, for i have rejected him. For not the way man sees is the way God sees, because mere man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is."" So what is the point? Jehovah sees what the heart is. What does that mean? It means that while we sin every single day, and sometimes we do not even realize that we are sinning, Jehovah can see the true desires of our heart, whether they are good or bad. Psalms 130:3 says, "If errors were what you watch, O Jah, O Jehovah, who could stand?" God does not look to our errors as a way to judge us. If that were the case, could we not reason that we as humans could be as good as Jehovah when it comes to judging a person? flaws are apparent in a person, but their heart condition is only for God to see.

So why has religion lied to you? Again, the bible says at 1 John 5:19, "We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." To supplement this, 1 Peter 5:8 says, "Keep your senses, be watchful. Your adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking to devour someone." Religion today has become that roaring lion. It is part of this world, and 1st John said "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one."
