I work in NYC, in midtown. Alot of girls I work with wear Jessica Simpson style high heels. I love all those shoes but I was a tomboy growing up and now i'm in my 20s and I can't walk in those type of shoes. One time I wore a pair of 3in. heels and honestly I feel in the subway. NYC just moves too fast on the street for me to dress up and wear those shoes. So i'm forced to wear "kitten heels" or flats everyday! I feel stupid - is that acceptable or not? How do girls learn to walk in high heels like they're sneakers? Can I do it?

There is a new insert that helps distribute your weight better in high heels. I don't recall the name but you should be able to find them in a local drug store.

Not that I know for sure, but practice should help, perhaps try wearing them around home for several hours every night. Often women will wear tennis shoes on the subway and then switch when they get to work.

Good luck

What you need to know is : COMFORT! for you, it seems as though high heels also interrupt your SAFETY!... I have worked all over the country in lots of different jobs - some that REQUIRED HEELS! and i used to bring them to work with me. Slip em' on at work and if my feet got sore during my shift -then i would just change until my feet got used to it! In the end, it is quite simple, the shoes you love just might not be the right shoe for you. Both your feelings and wearing flats (that are nice) are appropriate - BE WHO YOU ARE! ... and love that person.

try wearing sensible shoes on the street and changing when you arrive at work. Also, I can walk a LOT better in boots that have thicker heels, because I get more support from them, and they're still stylish. Come to think of it, flats are stylish now too. Enjoy it!

dont feel stupid, wear what you feel comfortable wearing
do you really want to fall on your a$$ again and possibly break something just for the sake of fashion....and in midtown around 5-6 with everyone rushing home like zombies no one will help you up-trust me!!

I admire girls that dress sensibly, you get around faster and your feet dont hurt at the end of the day...save the heels for a night out:)
