Unfortunately, as far as I know, there are only two choices. Either have the female spayed (neutering the male will not change the behavior, but is a good idea) if you aren't planning to mate her or confine her up for the duration to keep her away from the male. I think there are things that can be worn by the female to prevent mating (kind of a doggy chastity belt), but nothing will prevent the pheremones she is putting out as far as I'm aware. That is what the male is responding to.

Lab - needs to be fixed

Dobie - needs to be fixed

Because you waited so long, there may still be some residual humping, but at least nothing will come of it.

Be responsible and get your dogs fixed. 10000 animals die in shelters each day - many of whom are labs. Don't be a part of this.

Get them both fixed. We don't need anymore accidental mutt breedings in the world. And it makes them better, healthier pets for life.

IT WILL LAST FOR 21DAYS, I THINK. YOU CAN TAKE HER TO A VET AND GIVE HER A SHOT TO TAKE HER OUT OF HER HEAT CYCLE OR JUST KEEP THEM APART. FAR ENOUGH TO WHERE HE CAN'T SEE HER.
