I have two chichuahua dogs, and the female just had a litter of two puppys 2 1/2 months ago, and she's in heat again. I dont want her to get pregant right now. I want her to wait.
Is there any thing i can buy at the pet store so i can perfent them from getting stuck( like a diaper or something). I know i can try to keep them seperate, but it will be to hard. Any ideas?

I dont want to spade her! ?

I see so people on here can be very mean and disrespectfull. For some of your answers, my dogs are pure breed, and i want my females body to rest! I dont want her to be a breeding machine, but at least have a couple of litters befor i ever decide to spay her.

you can try crating also there is a male wrap its usually used for potty training but will also aid in preventing him from breeding her. they are available at most petstores like petco or petsmart

She's is in heat already, so there's really nothing you can do except keep the dogs apart. There is no diaper or dog chastity belts that works.

For another time, since you find it too hard to keep your dog away from male dogs during her heat and you don't want to spay her, talk to your vet about it. It is possible to give the dog an injection that prevents her going into heat, but I would not recommend it. Prolonged use of the injection often results in the dog getting cancer.

Without going into the whole breeding debate: Spaying is not standard practise where I come from and I rarely interfere with people's decision whether to spay or neuter, but if you only think you can "try" too keep them seperate and that it will be "too hard" when she is in heat and you don't want her to mate, then I would suggest that you reconsider the decision to not spay her. As you probably know, it is not good for her to get a pregnant again so soon after her last litter.

You need to spay her.

I work for rescue groups and I have a couple questions for you to help educate people. Could you help me?

1. As a BYB, why do you feel the AKC and CCA rules do not apply to you?
a. You are above ethics
b. You aren't part of the overpopulation problem
c. No one should tell you what to do
d. Another reason (please specify)
e. You feel that any purebred dog should be bred
f. You didn't know you were a BYB and that the AKC and CCA rules prohibit this type of breeding.

2. As a BYB, why do you think that it's ok to breed pet quality animals recklessly when 10000 animals a day die in shelters?
a. You don't care about those dogs
b. You just want to make money
c. You don't care about your dogs
d. Another reason (please specify)

3. Lots of people don't want spay/neuter laws - instead, they want education. But, from what I've seen on here, when you try to educate BYBs, they just swear and scream and ignore you, no matter how Nice or mean you are. So, what would it take for you to stop breeding irresponsibly?
a. Your dogs die
b. You create legless chihuahuas like these: http://www.nsalamerica.org/campaigns/chihuahuas/
c. You get sued for selling poor quality animals
d. The Chihuahua Club asks you to stop breeding
e. The AKC won't register the puppies and revoke registration from the parents
f. Another option (please specify)

Thanks for your help.

I Agree that the best idea is to spay her if you do not want her to have puppies. however there are pet pants that you can buy her to wear during her cycle, however they are not Guaranteed to work, There are also some things that you can put on her (a lotion or spay)to detour the male away from her scent, (I'm not sure what they are, u could ask a pet store like pet smart or petco ) i haven't used them but have heard about them.again no guarantee that they work. If you are not having her spay then you will need to keep them separated, perhaps keep one of them at a family members or somewhere else until she is finished with her cycle. But I would really consider having her spay, if she just had puts 2 1/2 months ago, its a little soon for her to be in season again
. Good Luck.

No disrespect intended, however so what your dogs are purebred..that in no way means they should be bred...what do they have to contribute back to the breed other then more puppies??? Are they show or performance champions, do they have impeccible pedigrees, have they had and passed genetic testing (not just simple vet exams) are they good specimans of their breed, will they produce puppies that are better then they are, do they compliment each other and make up for what each is lacking???

You don't want to spay her...well lets see for each time she goes in heat her risk of mammary cancer & pyometria increases...for each time she is pregnant the risk goes up even more for pyometria, for each time she is pregnant the risk of complications increases...for each time she is pregnant the risk of death occurs...

As for the male..longer he is intact the greater the risk becomes for prostrate cancer, enlargement & infections, the greater the risk of incontinence, the greater the risk of anal fistulas/tumors, the greater the risk of infections, the greater the risk of testicular cancer, the greater the risk of unwanted behaviors.

To answer your question no there is nothing you can buy that will keep her from getting bred again..only thing you can do is keep them seperated.

I have a purebred basset. He's neutered. I don't want to contribute to the already over populated animal shelters. Why do you feel the need to cause more animals to die? What right do you have to wreak havoc on your dogs body, cause pregnancy does that. You should find a new home for your dogs or get them both fixed. Be a responsible owner, not a greedy, money hungry owner.

Your ? is just stupid... Why not spay her is the question... By your dog having puppies it is just taking YEARS off of her life.. it's not healthy for her.. you know that right? If you cared about your dog you would spay her, or for god sake nueter the male. What the hell... this is just annoying all of you BYB's!

Well, bad asking here - we're all going to tell you to spay her.

Seriously, what's the difference? She'll have absolutely no physical difference, and maybe a bit more behaving when she's spayed.

Please, do the world a favor and spay your girl, and neuter your boy. We all did.

there is very numerous incorrect information on the information superhighway, and that's between the mis-recommended comments which you study someplace. certainly having a muddle would reason pyometra, and that i had a Schnauzer ***** to show it.

You don't want to "spade" her, huh? Too bad. If you don't want her mating and having puppies (a clear and obvious choice since you can't spell "spay" or even "chihuahua"), this is your solution. Jesus.
