Also they are harassing any good samaritan citizens; who attempt to help the homeless( stopping them from giving out warm clothing,food,etc...);because the citizens can't afford the over priced permits to do it! Is there any laws against this harassment & can an: class action lawsuit be filed against Nashville Police Dept. by all concerned?

So, when the homeless go to an parking lot & one of you do-gooders are trying to give some of us "loiterers" food, clothing, or shelter; the police are just enforcing the laws & we"loiters are breaking the law by trying to accept it? Even when the police actively seek out 'do-gooders' & shut them down; purposely & unafraid to tell you d0-gooders that they're trying to get rid of the homeless, any way they can; still we loiters are the trouble makers in this, hmmmmmmmm?

I work downtown, and I have to say that the homeless have become a dangerous problem. They urinate and defecate in our parking garage, and one recently attacked a co-worker. He hit her in the head with a heavy object in an attempt to rob her. Fortunately she was able to escape and get help. Our company has now hired private security in an attempt keep them out of our building.

Another coworker is in a wheelchair, and when he goes out for lunch he's often accosted by the homeless. They grab the handles of his wheelchair and try to steer him into places or they want to hold on until he gives them money to let go.

I understand that people want to help these folks, but giving them food and other items just encourages them to remain downtown. If people want to help, find ways to get these folks off the streets.

I don't know why the police are harrassing the homeless,In Nashville Tn. But in todays world we should be very careful, about bad mouthing these unfortunate people. Because if you are a working person you are only a few pay-checks away from being homeless your-self,Or just one major ILLNes with Doctor and Hospital bills.
It is a Crying Shame that the United States Has turned it's back on her own people, in favor of a bunch of illegals.

Put it this way, you will be well noticed in these parts of the country. They have their own way of life and as previously said you will freeze to death. So why waste money going there, if your that way inclined you could die anywhere and enjoy what money you have left. Don't mean to be nasty but who really thinks about being homeless? Police presence believe it or not is mostly the neighbourhood as they all stay there. So think again and perhaps get some work.

The police are enforcing the existing loitering laws. People have more than likely complained about the homeless, who are probably panhandling, stealing stuff etc

The police there are simply enforcing laws that already exist. Its not harassment, its law enforcement. Should we be selective in which laws we enforce?

I have yet to come across a bum (or homeless person) that did not get themselves there by dope or alcohol. Addiction is the downfall of those people. They commit a heavy percentage of your property crimes such and theft and burglaries.

Sure it would be nice of we could pick them all up, give'em a hug, a shower, a job and a home, but its not going to happen.

They are liotering. The business community probably called the Mayor's office to get the police to arrest them. Some of them can be abnoxious. Peeing in the street, walking around yelling crazy things, bumming cigerettes. It's sad, but you can't have them all over the streets.
Edit I agree with Straightforward.below...he's right on the money.

I hate the homeless, most are criminals and those who choose that lifestyle. Why the great concern, everyone whines about over population, yet wants me to help feed those who will never contribute anything of worth to society. I think I will take a pass on that. If you really care about them, take them to your house.
